I hope they file for bankruptcy, and tomorrow isn't soon enough. And YETI too.

Haven’t been in the rat hole since they started their BS. Their leadership is disgusting, and I wish them much misery and many financial woes.

I’ve shopped there before the black gun debacle.

Fishing section is pretty complete. The sales were good.

The other 85% of the store was geared for soccer moms trying to outfit youngsters for a sport.

I shopped at Dick’s in the early 2000’s. Just off the top of my head, things I remember buying there:

Bicycling:
Trunk bag
Rear rack
Shorts
Gloves
Helmet

I purchased ammo and a turkey fryer from Dick’s also.

Dick’s sucked before Parkland. I have not bought anything from them in years. The closest one to me has an Academy Sports within walking distance. I spent $450 on ammo, optics and a pair of jeans at Academy over the black Friday weekend.

Eat schit and die, Dick’s Sporting Goods.

I went in Dicks, in Albuquerque, several years back - to see about ammo, and what they carried. I walked out disappointed.
After they stated their corporate stance re: 2d amendment, I flat REFUSE to darken their door with my presence - they can KMA !!!

What kind of ammo were you looking for .256 Win. Mag. ? The Dick's here carries quite an extensive assortment of ammo and usually has about anything that isn't obsolete in stock.

Bravo

We used to have a decent sporting goods store here in central Indiana named Galyans. Then Dicks came to town, built a bunch of stores to compete with Galyans, and within a year bought Galyans out. Friggin stupid businessmen, had a brand new store, Galyans had a brand new store, and Dicks ended up paying for both of them and leaving one empty for years.

I enjoy going into Dicks to get my sons basketball shoes. He tries on the ones he wants so we can get his size, then we tell them that we’re not going to buy the shoes there due to Dicks anti gun stance. After spending anywhere from 30-60 minutes of their time, they don’t seem to appreciate their company’s stance when they realize they’re not gonna sell the shoes...

Last thing I bought at Dick's was a Sentry gun safe that was a step above a gun cabinet. Needed something for the rifle overflow because we had young ones coming to visit. Price was so cheap I couldn't pass it up. Dick's needs to look at Sports Authority. Flourishing store many many years ago. Ones here had competition from another sporting goods store that sold rifles and handguns with a good gun department. SA had a good gun department that sold both handguns and rifles. The other store got bought out or closed down. Don't remember why. The handguns then disappeared from SA. Not long afterwards, the long guns disappeared. Sports Authority died a slow, painful death.

A lot of my dollars go to Academy now. Seems they have good prices and a good selection.

Cabelas is not far from where I work, but have been in there only once since the BP buyout. Didn't buy anything that trip. BP is too far to go now.

There are two other local gun stores within thirty minutes of where I work. Prices are higher, but selection, accessories and service are top notch.

I can probably count on one hand all the things I bought at Dick's over the years. Their hunting and shooting department was always pretty generic as far as I'm concerned. If you are a golfer or into sports oriented clothing, it was your kind of store.

Not so much mine.

They are the only place I can find Duofold long underwear. When I go to buy it, I don't even look around the store for anything else.

Their BoD made a decision to turn their back on the 2nd Amendment and the folks who support the 2nd Amendment. Choices have consequences.

Unfortunately for shareholders, the BoD now seems to be doubling down on stupid since the first stupid decision did not go the way they expected...

Dicks is ultimately going to fail. They launched with a bit of a different business model. They were going to staff each department with people that were specialists in the respective areas. So if you wanted to get started in golf, you could talk to someone who had a level of training and product knowledge to steer you in the right direction. They priced their merchandise higher and paid their employees more than the competition as well. It didn't take the long to come to terms with two realities. American consumers are bargain hunters. Stock holders put intense pressure on companies to keep payroll at the lowest percentage of sales as humanly possible. Payroll is the single largest controllable expense most businesses have.

They have a token presence in departments like hunting, fishing and camping. Some stores have abandoned hunting altogether. They have put themselves in a decent position with bicycles, occupying the ground between Wal-Mart and specialty shops. Unfortunately that's not a high profit market. Their golf and team sports departments are solid. Shoes and apparel are high profit. Competition is fierce in those categories though. Can they stay afloat? I don't know. Their sales and profit have been steadily rising over the past few years, but their net income has been wonky.

Galyans had what, 3 stores (Plainfield, Carmel and Keystone?)
I remember them trying to go national, had expanded their gun sales.......saw a flier about it.
Dunno if they flubbed it or got stretched, but it was then that Dicks swooped in.

Liked the Carmel store, and yeah the Clay Terrace deal w a new Dicks seemed stoopid.
Dunno what they put in the old Galyans.

I bet you can find it on Amazon.com. Arrives at your home in two days.

I haven't stepped foot into Academy since they fired that sales associate for roughing up that blue-gummed negroe shoplifter.
