I feel very fortunate! Have had good health, a good paying “blue collar” job, tried to live a conservative lifestyle ( no cruises, few Vegas trips, didn’ make those Alaskan/African hunts I’d dreamed of since childhood, etc), tried to make purchases that would hold value, buy used (autos, boats, rv’s), and didn’t waste money on fancy restaurants ( a $100 meal, makes a turd just like a $10 meal). We’re certainly “not” rich, but paid our dues throughout our lives, to have a little security in our later years. Some was by design, some was by “pure dumb luck”! If we check-out tomorrow, I guess the kids won’t have to be as frugal as we were! memtb

I've been struggling with addictions most of my life. It's been killing my finances and I've never had the courage to face it until now. This probably isn't the place to confess anything personal LOL. That hasn't worked out real well in the past, but I really want to make this right, and this is the time and place to finally end it.
I've been thinking alot about how my life would be different today if I'd been free of them. It's no fun being a slave to your impulses. I expect everyone here to make a big joke of it, rub salt in the wound. There's some real heartless bastards on here.
How many vacations could I have taken my family on by now if I hadn't completely blown it all these years? It seems like financial decisions get put off because I just have to have my fix. I've tried to get help. Went thru a 12 step program twice, didn't take either time. Now, I just need to man up and kick this thing. I've got an extra 20 ponds and a good sleeping bag, I need to move out to that spot under the bridge and shake this addiction to food and shelter before it ruins my life.
Thanks, you guys have given me the courage to make this important decision.
Maybe I'll run into Middlefork Miner and we can share a PBR. I'd really like that. And Deflave will by to bag on you and how your ol lady logged on 24 hour called you lazy and was it worthless who knows, I never read that whole thing your ol lady posted about you. You will get your tit in a ringer, try to do battle of whits with him lose as usual and slink off into the night.. it's the usual wash dry and repeat.. I don't even understand his post. It's about me? This 79s wife I need to talk to your wife cause it apparent fireballs wife needs help. She needs some girls advice thanks..
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

Okay, I didn't factor in the beer and bud on our monthly budget.
That's an easy $500-600/month.

But some farmers wanna be fancy pants, especially when they get in competition with the neighbors.
This coming from the guy who’s neighbors own a limousine.

Sam; Good afternoon to you sir, I hope that this finds you well and the year's been good to you all thus far. We were fortunate - and I say that with a bit of a wince Sam - in that we lost everything when we were first married and drifted out west here with next to nothing. In retrospect that hard start taught us so very many life lessons that I'm eternally grateful for it as it was those times we looked back on when deciding how to proceed with various ventures in life. Anyway without going into too much detail we set a goal we wanted to hit before retirement and through some good fortune in the markets and careful saving we hit the goal a few years back. I'm 56 now and feel like I'm too young to not work quite yet, so I'll keep going as long as I'm challenged and feel like I'm making a meaningful contribution. My current plan is to retire at 60, barring unforeseen issues taking place between then and now, but both of us could likely stay home for the rest of our lives and be okay. Hopefully that doesn't come across as bragging in any way Sam as that's not how I've intended it. We've both been blessed with good health for the most part and honestly that's worth more than any financial goal or target we could ever achieve. On the farming thing, I'm currently trying to talk my older brother into getting out of the business as its starting to take a toll on his health and he's worked way too hard for too many years not to partake in some of the fruits of his labor. We'll see I guess though Sam, as he's never done anything else - you've heard that before too I'm guessing? All the best to you all as you head into calving season Sam. Dwayne
