Just recently purchased a used New Haven Conn. CRF stainless Win in 270 Win. 24" bbl. Like new cond. I have several other cal's I load for but never a 270. Your loading info especially if chronographed would be most appreciated. I have ample supplies of Rel 19 & 22. Accurate 4350. H 4831. H-Retumbo. IMR 7828 . Win 760/H-414. If you have loads with these particular powders that would be helpful. Also have lesser amounts of other powders. Willing to try other powders for max safe loads. My bullet of choice is the Barnes 129 LRX.

130gr Nosler Partition 60.0 H4831SC

3100 almost exactly out of my 22" Custom Ottmar/Grisel as measured by lab radar.

I never shot the Barnes out of that rifle but let me look, I may have shot the 130 TSX out of a Biesen I once owned.

59.5 H4831SC and the 130 TTSX chronoed 3075 out of the Biesen. Interestingly, 60g jumped the velocity up over 3,200 fps.

64.0gr of Magpro and the TTSX gave just over 3,100 with excellent extreme spreads.

Or just about any other good 130gr bullet.....

My daughter's Rem. 700 ADL shoots either 130gr. Hornady SP or 130gr. Barnes TTSX to the same point with 55.0gr. IMR-4350 in Rem cases and WIN LR primers seated to factory length. Velocity average is 3050fps out of her 24" barrel.

Depending on what we are after determines which ammo gets loaded in the magazine.

I get 3050fps from H4831 and Barnes 130TTSX at about 60gr. Could go higher but accuracy was so good it didn't seem worth it. This from a BACO FWT. Tried several other powders and some of the new Enduron stuff and none of it was as accurate as the H4831.
My next endeavor is ELDX and RL26 if I can ever find some.

I've tested all of the powders you list and had fairly good accuracy and velocity results...

Then when I go hunting with the Model 70 in 270 I use, I reach for the can of 4064 and a 140 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip....which just seems to work...

My pet loads for .270 run 150gr projectiles pushed by 57 grains of IMR7828.

150 SST and 150 Grand Slam - depending on what I am trying to kill. Typical (chronyed) velocities are 2850-2900 from a 22" Savage 111.

The SST load is .75 MOA. The Grand Slam is more like 1.5 MOA but more than good enough for moose and elk at "reasonable" distances.

I don't think the 7828 will mix well at all with the 129 LRX though (7828 shines with heavy-for-caliber bullets), so my info is basically irrelevant.

I do appreciate all your help. . This is my first 270 so looking for solid info. I have a considerable amount of once fired brass I collected over the years from here & there. Seems most 270's are 22" bbl's so was surprised to find this CRF 24" version. The rule of thump is about 35fps per inch over 22''. So will see. I can do some choreographing now but I've got so much snow I will not be able to use my range till at least the middle of March. Spent 4 hrs this morning plowing my road so I can get out.

I tried H4831SC and accuracy was acceptable with 130's excellent with 150's. N560 produced the best accuracy with light bullets 110 and 130's in my rifle.

Any one use the Nosler E-Tip?

Work up slowly. Due to the longer bearing surface, you can reach max with mid range loads.

Thanks Sniper. I have years of experience with the Barnes bullets but zero with the Nosler E-Tip. The price is really great with the E-T seconds but means nothing if their not the equal of the Barnes .

Old school here. IMR 4350 for the 130.

7828 for the 150.

Even played with some 110s.

58.0gr of RL23 140gr Accubond WLR primer Win case 3.270 OAL. 3052 fps SD 11.0 5 shots shot from 1952 model 70.
load also worked good with Federal Trophy Bonded Tipped. This is the load I use on all my 270,s

I use IMR 4350 also with 130’s. Partition or ballistic tips. Barnes 130’s would be outstanding also!

I believe my velocity was around 2800 FPS out of a 22" barrel. Very accurate in my rifle though.

130 gr. Speer Grand Slam

Another vote for 4350, however I will be trying some RL17, which has a burn rate similar to that of 4350. RL 17, has a good performance “track record”! memtb
