it will depend on driving conditions at the time. Sometimes it's easy driving and others it's hell even in a good 4x4. I pulled my 12 ft flat bed trailer down there once, won't do it again. Driving conditions that weren't great but not as bad as they can be. Best time is after some good rain storms that pack that sand down.

Talcum power. Is another thing not to forget if we get this set up. You'll be glad you had it.

Roger,

we go down to Port A a few times a year and enjoy fishing in the surf.

Frying up fresh caught whiting on the beach is a favorite.

I'd like to join in this year.

Have a couple of canopies I can bring.

Mark

Perhaps a PM would be best for this type of question.

depends but usually somewhere around the thirty - forty mile marker, whereever we find a good cut in one of the sand bars. plus we'd be around halfway down the island and if anyone wanted to run up or down the beach looking for birds working it wouldn't be that far. usually around the cabo diablo area, not a long run to the Mansfield jetty's from there.

two days on the sand is about all i can take. i mentioned talcum powder because if you want to sleep its a life saver, just cover yourself with some and all the sand sheds off plus if you get baboon ass it helps.

Last time, I was completely dependent on the assistance of others because I flew in to San Antonio. Birdwatcher met me, drove me there and back, and even provided a tent for me to sleep in. Roger loaned me rods and tackle. Everybody else gave or provided something. I was humbled and grateful, but unable to reciprocate. It would be the same thing if I came this time, so perhaps I'd better not.

I can pick up Rocky.

He could use some adventure anyway.

I love PINS. It is such a magical place. We usually only go about 15 miles down. Just far enough to cut the crowds and find some solitude. It isn't usually much of a fishing trip for us, although we have caught some decent fish over the the years, more of an enjoy the beach and re-charge the mind sort of a trip. For the last few years we've made trips around memorial day, but this year we're going to the grand canyon and havasupai falls. I'll need to find another time to get my fix of PINS this year.
