Simple question, because I really don't know much about bipods. What would be a good choice for Longer range hunting as well as shooting. In my head i picture something where the legs go out in front towards the barrel being better than straight up and down. Is there anything like that? I'd much rather shoot off my pack(s). Hint............... Giving advice where you would be best served closing your cockholster and learning comes easy for you donβt it sugar tits. PS your PACK is some funny [bleep] itβs the door jam or the hood let us not BS. Snuck back while the men were tending the herd your crafty tub of [bleep]. LOL OP atlas is the best bang for your buck get the quick detachment model and things are quick and easy. Poor sugartits.

I just picked up a javeline. Pretty good idea and mounting system. I have an atlas too but it is heavy and doesn't detach real easily.
The Harris is OK for prairie dogs and shooting steel, but they suck ass on a hunting rifle. Way too heavy and bulky.
Off the pack is what I grew up doing and really haven't been able to justify the 1000 or so dollars I have spent on bipods over the years.

One thing I like about the Kifaru Hunter's frame is the "Y" in it, which is an awesome rifle rest, at just the right height for a sitting shot. Lay the pack down and depending on how much stuff is jammed in it, it's great for a prone shot.
I do carry bipods at times, but always go back to my pack.
