Cracked the stock on my Kimber Montana 84l. New rifle less then 20 rounds down the barrel. Was shooting it and was going to load another round and noticed it. Crack is on the top/side of the stock by the recoil lug inlet. The mighty kicker that could accomplish such a feat? .270win! What do you think bad stock? I thought these things could take heavy 30-06 recoil? Going to have to send the whole rifle to Kimber and hope they replace the stock and I’m only out shipping. Should I have it bedded when it comes back? Will that help at all? Crackstock

Nah, don’t own a lead sled for this exact reason. Also the first factory ammo I’ve shot in years since I’m not setup to load .270 yet.

I had another stock issue with my 6.5 creed a couple years ago and it went fine, just took a month to get it back. If it goes the same this time I’ll be happy.

Good deal!
Are you going to bed the recoil lug recess on the new stock when it arrives?
