If the unloaded diameter of a radial tire and a bias-ply is the same, the rolling diameter will be the same. The contact patch on the radial may well be longer but the distance around the tire is still the same. When it comes to matching tires on a 4wd, diameter is everything and brand or type is secondary. Sam, I have 16.9-24's on the rear of my old 4000 ford and just bought new tires last year. IIRC, they were around $550 per tire and that included new tube, antifreeze, and mounting. I didn't get the cheapest or the most expensive. 8 ply?

OM3, those must have been bias ply?

Did a quick internet search and the 16.9R26's were $1250 apiece. Waiting on the local tire man to get me a price.

Not really pulling anything hard, more or less just worried about mud this spring and moving bales, dragging the pickup around if need be...

I used to buy used tires, and run miss matched tires just to save the cash.

Richard, they are just fine for loader work.

On dry or frozen ground.....


And like Barry mentioned, they'll be on there next year.

Hell, I figure we put maybe 400-500 hours a year on that machine so they'll last quite awhile.

Lean the old ones against a shed in the shade and you'll have spares you'll never use but you'll feel more frugal. haha
I hate dropping coin on tires too and I'm just in for pick'm up truck tires, half those prices. Sure like having new tires though!

Sam, the difference in those 14ply radials and the 20ply bias tires was less than a hundred bucks for the pair.

I use to mount tractor tires. I'm too old for that now.

Salty, my dad was already thinking we could swap my used tires to another tractor we basically keep as a spare but the rim size was off.....

No way in hell would I ask him to mount some ordered tires!

You know what I mean. Gotta spend a little extra and shop local.....

Those look like they got a lotta life yet. We run our 6310 til the tires are so smooth they start loosing air pressure. It will still go better than a 2wd any day. Barry
