rolled the smoker outta the garage today........ baby back pork ribs on there right now @ 225* I cheated......slow cooker first 5 hrs.....smoke 'em slow for 90 min Baked tators.....slaw......baked beans on the side...... Couple cocktails while the ribs simmer in the cherry smoke..... whats fur dinner at your house tonight ? tikka, umm dude, traeger. stop dinking around. a trager is like a freaking oven that produces smoke. put meat in, go to sleep, wake up the next morning and it cooked all night, add pellets, lay back down, come out when its done. The old school wood smokers are way too much hassle. used them for years, monkeyed around with results that were't always repeatable. pellet smokers produce everytime. I have had a Traeger for a few years now and while I like it, I do not like the massive temp swings I'm getting so I ordered a new after-market controller that promises to improve greatly on Traegers controller. Fingers crossed that it works. What traeger? I’m looking to get one.

I believe they are putting the new and improved controller in them now which Traeger will gladly sell you for your older models for a mere $250. I think I paid $80.00 for the after market.

Where Traegers really shine is long cooks like pork butts. 14 - 16 hours.
I go 14 for sliced pork and 16 if I'm gonna pull it.

Same here. There is an art in the smok'n. I am enjoying the relationship of the WSM and Thermoworks "Smoke" paired up. Perfection. A good sidebox smoker is a good set up too. Hell with smoking with glued wood.
Gun Shows are almost as comical as boat ramps in the Spring.

My property has enough of every nut and fruit tree you can imagine. No problem with fuel. I do have to buy Mesquite and Alder. No big deal.
