Best I can figure, it's a way that someone singles out a group of people and engages in rhetoric that pokes fun at them in order to make the person feel superior to them.

But all it does is make the person appear silly.

A few little jabs every now and then wouldn't mean much. But a prolonged session of such behavior over several weeks just gets tiresome to witness.

Churches fragment over what are really petty differences. Many times it's a power play between those in charge. Sometimes it's is an essential differing from the word of God and ignoring what it says. Frankly, the open acceptance of homosexuality in the church would be one of those things. There are others. Different doctrines that truly do not deviate from each other to any meaningful degree. Then there are differences in church governance that play into it.
