Saw this article on AllOutdoor today and figured it worthy of discussion here. I always carry 1 extra magazine. Used to carry 2 in a mag holster, but that got to feeling like a duty belt. Made me understand why cops always walk with their elbows out. Interested in knowing what everybody else does. ??

Yessir, always carry at least two hi-cap mags, and sometimes three of the 8 round single stacks 45's or 10 round Tripp 10mm and 38 Super mags, they all ride perfectly comfortable in my rear left jeans pocket, a tin of Cope keeps em all standing up straight and handy.

It's pretty easy to carry a second mag so the question should be why not.

It's pretty easy to carry a second mag so the question should be why not. Just that much more weight pulling your pants down. A loaded 17 round magazine is pretty heavy in the pocket. With 18 on board the Glock 17 already, I don't particularly feel the need for it, coming from my last CCW which was a six shot .38. That's three times the firepower without a reload. It's like a Model 10 with two speed loaders, except you don't need to speed load them. Now, when I carry the Glock 43 instead, I almost always carry a spare mag in my pants pocket, because those, fully loaded, aren't very heavy. Of course there's always an extra loaded 17 round Glock mag somewhere nearby, such as in the night stand drawer, or glove compartment of my car, which can easily be grabbed and stuck in a pocket if the need arises.

Weight should never be a concern with staying alive, there isn't a swinging dick on here that hasn't begged, connived, pleaded, hoodwinked his way into gladly hoisting a 120lb woman up in the shower and hammering himself stupid! and will every damn chance he gets. Carrying extra ammo could be the difference in getting to do that again, not to mention being alive to watch out for that woman and kids for the remainder of your life, the Copper gun thread about so many NOT carrying damn near put me in a ""stupid"" coma, and that doesn't take much btw. comfort? fu-k comfort, stay alive, rest when you get back to the damn house.

I don't generally carry a spare mag for the Glock 17.

I wear these suspenders every day. They are strong, and do not get in the way of where I put my holster (strongside or stong side behind hip bone). They keep everything riding where it should be. https://www.duluthtrading.com/mens-contractor-suspenders-91236.html

I can't think of a single instance where I'd want to be engaging someone with three hi-cap magazines worth of ammo.

If I was down by the southern border, I'd be rolling heavy too. Here in MT, it's a little different.

I carry a 15 round 2.0 M&P Compact IWB and carry an extra 15 round mag on my belt in a BFG Ten Speed pouch horizontally. Along with my wallet, keys, flashlight, knife and spare change in my pockets and my pants haven't fell down yet.
It's not so much the number of rounds, cause I carry a J frame at times with a speed strip.
One shot might be all it takes or the magazine in the gun might break, heck I locked up a J frame once in a match. Murphy is out there.
