Since I can't shoot I would like to know what is the revolver that has

horrendous recoil?

I would love to have one to try.

I’d say any of the scandium J Frame .357 Magnums or scandium .44 Magnums fit the bill. I fractured a wrist bone firing six rounds of a bear defense .44 Magnum load from the latter.

For me, it was the Taurus Raging Bull 8" shooting the 240 gr. Hornandy. It HURT!

Got get you an 8" barreled 500 S&W magnum, load the 440gr cast performance bullets to a full chronoed 1650 fps with 296/h-110, after three, you really don't want to finish the other two, takes but a sec to address the wonderment.

According to the Mental all knowing Pundits on here a 500 S&W isnt much as far as recoil is concerned.

So loaded the hell it aint, that sombitch feels like it driving straight back through that rubber grip trying to split your wrist like a stick of firewood!

You will need to take it up with the Mental all knowing Pundits as that is their allowance on the subject. Only they have heavy recoiling handguns. No one else has.

No need, I'm cured, loaded the rest of the 500 rounds of brass to a more user friendly 1350 fps, still couldn't imagine what that wouldn't shoot.

Worst 2 I've shot were the S&W 329PD and S&W 500. Both worse than full-snot .454 out of my Ruger Bisley. Bad in different ways.

The 329PD wood grip hits the knob on the knuckle where my thumb goes into the hand. It doesn't bother me much to shoot it once, it's the 2nd shot where the recoil lands on the bruise from the first where things get ugly. I like it a lot as a carry gun for backpacking where I'm not shooting many shots, not plinking, only shooting what has to be killed to save my hide.

The .500 was a weird experience. Shot it .. once. Strange things happened. The recoil was mostly back. Between the bullet being heavy enough to noticeably rotate the gun the opposite way the bullet was being rotated, the blast and brake, the muzzle did a crazy figure 8. At the same time it came straight back HARD. For a split second, everything in my wrist up to mid-forearm seemed liquid, seemed to be bending / flexing in directions / to degrees bone should not bend and flex. I can do without that.

Two others deserve (dis) honerable mention, both Smith and Wessons.

One, a M60 J-frame .357, has rubber grips. Rubber sticks to my hand instead of sliding. The recoil / impact isn't bad but it tries to stretch my skin beyond its elasticity and I wind up bleeding from the web of my hand.

The other, a 4 inch 629, did the same thing, even with wood grips. With factory 180s, I was bleeding after a couple shots so I duct-taped my hand back together and kept shooting. Folks looked at me like I was a little unhinged but the duct tape really did help a lot.

That should suffice. If you really want indulge in some self-abuse, remove the grip panels.....lol

This...... .480 Ruger shooting a 325gr Hornady XTP mag.

4” fa83 475 linebaugh with 440’s at 1400 fps. 5.5” 500jrh with 420’s at 1500fps. All significantly more recoil than any full size 500 smith.

Troble is with that is if i bought one of the ones listed than the Mental all knowing Pundits would then say it was anything. So it goes. Only what the Mental all knowing Pundits have is worth a dime.

At 4 1/2-lbs with a muzzle brake, and soft rubber grips, I would agree completely. But it's all relative.

My hardest kickers to date were a .500 Maximum shooting 525s at 1,350 and my all-time hardest recoiler, my .50 Alaskan D-Max lobbing 525s at 1,600 fps.

Recoil?

Nah.

Recoil, is of course, in the hand of the beholder. For me, any scandium framed magnum is offensive.
