I have a Double Nine that I got from a pawn shop about 12 years ago. It and a H&R 999 are my childhood 22 handguns

Did you get all three?

Not sure I like the looks of the finish on those? Heck, maybe they look better in person. I do want to have a closer look at one.

The black on black looks nicest to me. It would look pretty nice with some wood grips, and supposedly the Single-Six grips fit it, so there are a lot of options out there.

You might have a point there, MM. I think that for the price I may have to try one out. The black one would be the one I would choose, most likely. I would spring for new grips, also.

Good question. But then I've never seen him review a dog.

I don't understand the appeal. Couple more bucks you can get a single six with lr and wmr cylinders and adjustable sights. This looks like a cap gun and it goes bang. It wouldn't shine in damn near any application except maybe popping cans at 15yds. Cheap has never motivated me to buy anything.
My opinion only, if you like em, buy and enjoy. I'm just glad we live in a country with so many choices in firearms,
That we can argue about which is best.

Our biggest LGS is taking early orders now. $179.99 for all models.

By "a couple more bucks" you must mean two and a half times as much because I don't see em anywhere for less than $500.

They'd be perfect for a trap line beater. I'd buy one if I was still trapping.

Any of these made distribution to dealers? Have a pair spoken for but had not heard anything at all of consumers with their "hands full."

They are out there. Folks have been shooting them for a month now. Some of them are shooting quite well, some are not (usually that's a user malfunction, not the gun). You can't shoot a silver-colored gun in bright daylight with cheap-azz ammo (Thunderbolts) at 25yds and have great expectations. Poor preparation gives poor results, always.

They are hard to find, the local shops have waiting lists, and they're whittling away at those every chance they can, but demand is outstripping supply at present. Patience is called for.

My brother and a friend of his each bought one last week at Dad's Pawn + Gun in Gulfport, Ms. for $179.95. They only had the bronze finish in stock. The salesman told him they're selling as fast as they come in.

He's been having fun rolling tin cans.

I've read the same things about Minnesota sales, but I saw them for sale at the last MWCA gun show at the fair grounds. I'm not sure what the deal is.
