Antelope aren't exactly worth building a special rifle for. Last one I shot with a Browning BLR 223 at 300 yards.

I'd go for an 8 or 9 twist .25/06. Which I did. very accurate with 100gr NBTs and 115 Bergers. But, I've always been a fan of the 25s, so you can take my opinion with a grain of salt. But, I believe there are a wider range of hunting bullets for them than the 6mm.

A 22 Kreedmire and 88 ELD's crushes a 25-06 with 115 Boogers. Congratulations?!?
Never been difficult to cypher, who shoots and who don't.
Bless your heart for TRYING though.

With available bullets, a fast twist six. A 6.5-280AI is on my short list.

I shoot some 6.5-06 too. Pass the 280 and the .796 BC 180 ELD's. Hint.................

Between those two only you could flip a coin.
I have only shot four antelope, none over 250 yards so a 243 could be fine for me.
My 25-06 load for antelope is a 80 Barnes TTSX at 3690 fps (not a hot load either), which even an 88 Eld cannot catch within 450 yards fired from a Creedmoore.

I've had a sporter-weight 6MM-06 since the mid 90s. I've killed Mule Deer, White Tail, Antelope, Caribou and Sheep with it, plus lots of Coyotes and Prairie Dogs. Mine is a 700LH, #2 Douglas SS barrel (1 in 10) and Brown Precision stock. I shoot 100 grain Partitions and 70 grain BTs. I've enjoyed the rifle thoroughly. Wouldn't change a thing. The farthest I've killed a Game Animal with it was the Bighorn @ 348 yards. So, obviously, I'd vote 6MM-06.

You Day Dreaming Do NOTHING Dumbfhuqks are a hoot! Your Imaginary Pretend Quartbore Magic arrives the 450yd line at 2315fps and has halfa fhuqking foot more windrift than the 88,started 440fps slower at the muzzle. The TTSX makes an "amazing" 952 ft lbs at 450yds...which the 88 makes beyond the 600yd line. The 88 surpasses TTSX impact velocity, inside the 350yd line and has the advantage in windrift inside the 50yd line and of course retains both forever. Pardon my being beyond fluent in all things .257",as you talk out your ass. Where/how do you STUPID Fhuqks dream this schit up? Bless your heart for TRYING. Hint. Laughing!.............

Stick - what do you for brass in your 6.5/06? Typically Virgin 270 false shoulders...mainly because I had bajillions. Lapooey '06,is the best pitch going. Hint..................

Hint................. Hey fat azz, it shoots very well with the 8 twist barrel. I haven't put the 12 twist on it yet. Some of that lard melting off you in the record Ak. temps? Chuckle, chuckle, chuckle

What were the "odds" of you being both a CLUELESS Fhuqk and a Lying Piece Of Fhuqking schit...as you "forgot' about your "heralded" Imaginary Pretend Ignore, yet again. Congratulations?!?

So I was ready to build another 6mm-06 for an upcoming antelope hunt but lately have been wondering if I shouldn't just go with the plain old 25-06. I have dies, brass and bullets for both, and I don't "need" either, just want one. Antelope up here is a very very rare draw so 95% of the time it would be used for coyotes/wolves, and whitetails.
So what would you build? (Between these two only) I'll take that 6mm bbl when you done with it. Going with a JC?
