Sure hate to hear that! frown

I know it doesn't seem like it, but the very short duration is really a blessing in itself.

Its not only people with cancer that have that 1 wish HD, believe me. Really sorry to hear about your bil Doug, I can't imagine how his children and wife must be feeling, it's terrribly sad to think about.

Best to you, Doug and his family.

My condolences, sir.
My father was told 2 years ago, to get his affairs in order, you would be lucky to see 6 months. He's still kicking.
My best friend's dad, was told he'd be dead in less than a year. He made 9 more years in his own house.
Perhaps his time is done, perhaps not.

Yes it is.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

We pray our sights be straight
and our aim be true
We pray for no pain
to the game we pursue
We thank you Lord
for this land
We thank you for the sights
from our stands
We pray for safety, one and all
We pray we may return next fall

Wife & I were waiting in the hallway by the elevator to see my Endocrinologist/Oncologist. Up walks a gorgeous young girl with her mother. She was calling her Dad.

Dad?
Hello Baby, how did it go?
Dad, (sobbing) they told me I have 9 months at best.
Oh Honey, what can I say?
Dad, I’m only 19 years old.

My admission to the Survivors Club during my office visit was woefully insignificant. I will never forget that girl.

Sometimes you are the bug and sometimes you are the windshield. I just want to wear out my prairie dog rifles. My wife passed away in 2011.
I am sorry for your loss. Cancer sucks!

Sorry to hear this, Randy. He sounds like one of the guys they just didn't make enough of.

He left behind a fine BIL also.

I am very sorry indeed for you and your family. If there is a silver lining in this tragedy is for everyone who has read this thread is you need to take interest in your own health. I do a lot of hiring for the company I work for and a job prerequisite is we pay for a full physical. I am and continue to be amazed at the ignorance out there. I'm talking grown adults (clearly not Mensa material) with families, that have NO CLUE as to what A1C, cholesterol, TypeII Diabetes etc, not to mention PSH, breast cancer markers, colonoscopies etc.

In the case of your BIL, even though some cancers can be extremely aggressive and kill you fast, I can almost guarantee you he had indications and warnings months if not years before it finally killed him. I've been fortunate, not only do I have good genes, but as a Navy Flier, yearly flight physicals were a requirement, and I continued to get them long after I retired. A lot of this stuff is curable gents, GO TO THE DOCTOR REGULARLY, especially so, if your family has a history.
