Looking for a stand up weed puller for the missus. There’s a good number of models on the market, and I’d like to get one that works well for her. Fiskars makes a couple different models that look like they would be nice, and I’ve never been dissatisfied with Fiskars products. For their price range they seem to be well engineered. Keep in mind it’s for a small woman, not for me.

I've never seen one in operation. How well do they actually work? Will they pull Lamb's Quarter and Mallow? Those have very strong top roots and we have plenty of them.

I a Fiskars Fiskars 339950-1001 39" 4-Claw Weeder, and it actually does a pretty good job. We have the hard red clay soil that is typical here in the Southeast, and it will pull most weeds out by the roots.

I wonder how one would handle kochia. If you don't get after them, they'll top 6' although they're fairly shallow rooted. Back in the 30's, some guy was said to have come through here selling kochia seed for livestock forage. Problem is that they won't eat it. Now it's a major pest.

Harvested young, like 4" high. It'll get higher than that in days and even goats won't eat it. It grows wild all over here and is close to being a noxious weed.
