I have a lot of favorites, but based on what I grab to hunt with the most, 7x57 Mauser.

It is a tie between the last one I shot, and the next I plan to buy.

For what reason, I just can not get away from my 30-06. Eventho I have a few other calibers both smaller and larger --- the 30-06 is my go-to gun when things get serious. It suppose I have the most confindence in its ability to get the job done!

My favorite cartridge is the 45/70 Govt. It's a fun round to handload and shoot. It also has a lot of good history and mystique.

But if I was limited to one cartridge for the rest of my life it would be the 300 Win. It is probably the most versatile cartridge on the planet. The only animals I wouldn't use it on would be African DG, but I don't plan to do that kind of hunting anyways.

.30-06 for "sentimental favorite"

Recently, I've been using more of the 6.5x55 and .257 Bob, though.

I liked (and can appreciate) the answer that went something like: "my favorite varies between the last one I purchased and the next one I'm going to buy". :-)

7-08, followed closely by 270 Win...
I mean 270 Win followed closely by 7-08...
I mean 300...I mean 25....I mean 22...I'll get back to you...or maybe not...

People should not have to decide certain things...

I'll say the 308 Win. This can cover the all around and the favorite. I know it sounds boring but it doesn't recoil, shoots accurately, isn't heavy, low maintenance, etc. If I want the speed and need to hold a different rifle, then I'll grab my 204 and shatter the sound barrier and detonate a few dozen varmints from time to time.
