Well, I just found out the other day I won the lottery of life....no, really! I am the winner in the 1 in a million male breast cancer lottery....yeah, it still sounds weird to say "I have male BREAST cancer"..... they took a sample and did the biopsy....yep, I win....go for the PET scan on Monday...and them I guess I will find out what comes next.....from the biopsy they call it stage 2B....so that is better than 4 so there is that. If anyone of y'all know of anyone who has gone through this, and would like to share their experience, I would appreciate it. Long history of the big C in my family so having it is not a surprise, but having MALE BREAST cancer is a shock. I am the third in the last year here in High Point so it is not common. Sigh...and on goes the circle of life.....................

Yeah, lump has been under, or behind, nipple for a while....kept waiting for it to go away...wife has had heart problems and the lump was not important. Finally asked her to check it 2 weeks ago and away we went. Told me how dumb I was to not say anything......I really thought it would just go away.............................

Keep a positive attitude. Gal down at work had stage 4 breast cancer and they cured it, she's cancer free now.

Sorry to hear this! Please keep a positive attitude - a friend was diagnosed with this about 20 years ago and he is still going strong. My wife was diagnosed with a rare breast cancer over 15 years ago. We were told that the type of cancer she had was fatal 97% of the time. We talked to my nephew, who is an oncologist, and he gave us the name of a specialist in the field. My wife had a double mastectomy and was on chemo for five years - but - she is alive and well today. Do not go to a local dr /hospital who may or may not know what they are doing. Get on the phone and call people!! Google is your friend - call drs all over the country and see if you can find someone who is recommended. If we had taken the advice of the local drs. I would be a widower right now.
Fighting cancer is a lonely thing but you and your family are the best advocates for YOU! Make the calls and find the docs!
Please keep us informed. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience on this board and lots of wonderful, wonderful folks who will help and support you if you let them.
We will be praying for you!

Done! Sounds like you still caught it early, and I expect you will beat it.

If ( probably when) I get cancer, I’m going to the Mayo Clinic. Might as well try to get the best treatment available.

I understand the shock and you will be in my prayers. I will offer a different perspective on some advice you've been given so far.
This past February I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Papillary Carcinoma, the most common type of thyroid cancer. As with breast cancer, it's also more common in women, but not to such a degree. I live in Wyoming, so not very close to any major medical center. I have family in Houston, including a DIL who is a nurse at the MD Anderson Cancer Center there. I had a lot of encouragement to go there for my treatment. But I trusted my doctors here. I had a good relationship with my oncologist, I had his cell number and could call or text him any time. I'm not sure you'll get that at the Mayo Clinic. To me the cost and stress of traveling to get treatment in a different location was outweighed by the benefits of staying home. I suggest you trust your gut on this one. I went through two surgeries and radiation here in Wyoming and have no regrets. I have had two consecutive blood tests that are good.
I am hoping and praying for the best for you.

Thoughts and prayers from far Northern California. Several women on my Mom's side of the family have had breast cancer, and all beat it, except my Mom. I have often wondered if I have a greater chance of getting breast cancer because of that. God luck and best wishes.
