exactly, they are like mini pecan pies, there are several results, though, but that is how i like them. others prefer the filling runny, where it pours out like thick syrup.

this particular recipe is neither, in deference to my canadian bud who gave me his mother's recipe, i didn't vary the ingredients at all

i got the cutter through amazon used to have all kinds of baking trinkets, now lost to posterity

In my case goes back to my marital days, collected my share of kitchen stuff...probably from Williams & Sonoma, or similar...real pastry chefs use those elongated wooden ones.

My mother made them with Raisins, or Currents, or Pecans. Sometimes with a little of each.

My wife makes them at Christmas with Raisins and Pecans.
