Going through my drawer of peeps and tangs and found a NIB Lyman 66S-24. My M24 is a 1970's gun I believe with the dovetail on top of the receiver, would have to be D&T'd to fit this, easier to use a dovetail Redfield mount.
Were M24's ever D&T'd at the factory for a side mount Lyman? Would be two holes on the left side like old Win. M94's.
thanks,
Rob

AFAIK, no version of the Savage 24 was ever factory d&t for a receiver sight.
Rimfire 24s had grooves on the rifle barrel for installing a ".22" scope and center-fire 24s came from the factory with plugged d&t holes for installing a base.
The only issue with mounting a peep sight on the barrel of a Savage 24 is that you also need to install a higher front sight.
