I'm new to the forum and am thrilled to see all of the Marlin owners active here. I have 4 Marlins, all JM stamped, pre-crossbolt safety models, & am always interested in the right JM (I'm ok w/ crossbolt safeties, just don't have one). I have the following: Golden 39M Mountie from 1975 (Christmas gift from my Dad) 1894 .357/38 from 1981 336RC from 1950, unmolested waffle top 444 from 1974 I'm researching all I can about reloading since I purchased the 444 last Sunday and plan to get started with that as soon as I'm comfortable with the information I've gathered. Edit: thought I should add a pic or two of my waffle top

Thanks, it wasn't a beauty when I got it, but a little rust removal, steel wool & lemon oil really does wonders for these old guns.

Yes, I'll find out. I really don't want to remove the original front sight. I'd like to keep the gun as original as possible.

Love the old Marlins , have a few myself. You may need a taller front sight , something around .410
