That's very sad news and he's going to be sorely missed! frown

Sad to hear. RIP sir.

Glad someone will take care of his beloved dog.

Charlie taught me a lot of things in the short time we were acquainted on the internet.

We never met in person and only talked on the phone one time, this Thanksgiving.

We did not talk long, he was just home from the hospital and in a heck of a lot of discomfort.

I didn't know he was as sick as he was.

We sent some things back and forth, told some stories too. One of the first messages I got was the address of a Mountain Cur breeder.

He loved those dogs.

Charlie set me on to Wild Turkey, sausage making and gumbo.

Taught me that if a recipe calls for vegetables.....you should double it.

Taught me some things about trapping and sent my kids some really nice gifts.....including a bobcat hide that they love.

I learned a lot from Charlie in our short time.

I sit here with a glass plumb full of Wild Turkey. Kids all sleeping peacefully. Thankful for the calm evening and how lucky I am.

Dont know if Charlie was a real church going type or not. I aint worth a schit when it comes to church....but I sure like this song.

Gonna drink my Wild Turkey and listen to the music.

Have a good one Charlie.

After reading his posts over the past years and the posts on this thread, it is obvious the Campfire is truly diminished with his passing.
Rest in Peace, Fieldgrade.

Very sorry to hear this. I know he lived alone (?), but 68 is way too young. I hope this serves as a lesson to all, that as you age, you must, MUST, be aware of your health and DO go see a doctor more often. From what I gather, cancer got him, but it does make one wonder, if he took care of himself. Goodspeed and we'll see you acrosss the river.. J

Hate to read this.

I always liked his posts and really liked when he would post pics of that little stainless barreled CZ.

Messaged him a couple of times about that little rifle.

Always liked his posts in the cooking section too.

Damn sure one of the good guys on here.

RIP old timer.
