But I’ve been pissed since Sherman burned Vicksburg, and we ain’t got much going for us but our pride. I’ve heard it all my life, sometimes I take exception, sometimes I don’t. Anyway I was short on my leash, I’m tipping my hat and moving on. And yes, we had snake wars, chicken snakes were best as they always bit fast.

"Since Sherman burned Vicksburg" Thats kinda a good analogy of long standing hard feelings I geuss. TFF!!! Sherman actually didnt burn Vicksburg. It was Jackson he burned. Twice. Mighta been 3 times actually in a 6 or 7 month period. IIRC. Vicksburg Battlefield is a pretty cool place to spend a day. Champions Hill area was plowed and green 4 months after that battle. You guys shoulda burned the bridge over the big black river. Woulda slowed down the advance of Grant on the back side of Vickburg by a week instead of a day. Joe Johnston didnt help out vicksburg much lingering around for 40 some odd days and basically refusing to help releive the seige by making grant fight on 2 fronts. Johnston wasnt much good at anything other than defensive retreat anyways. He proved that again against Sherman later on in Georgia. Did the same thing on the peninsular against McClellan earlier in the war. Why aint the state of Mississippi tried to buy that land on Champions Hill and make it a proper histotic site????
