Has anyone used the 6.5 140 partition much. I've loaded some at times but can't recall killing anything big with them.

I recently picked up a 6.5x300 Roy just because it was a deal and was thinking of trying a 140 partition at 3400 mv for an all around. I've mostly chased high BC for the past 25 years or so because BC is the gift that keeps on giving but with a 3400 mv the 140 partition still looks ok out to 1000. I thought it might be a good all around load.

Some of the 6.5 bullets I've been using lately in my creeds, swedes, 260's and even 264 may not hold up at Roy speeds. It has me thinking 127 lrx, or partitions.

140 NPT not as accurate as 140 NAB in 26 Nosler over 869.

6.5-300 is pretty close.

I’ve had great accuracy and terminal performance on hogs and WT’s with 120 E-Tips and TTSX also over 869. Both equally accurate and terminal performance indistinguishable.

The partition is never a bad choice. The LRX has a better BC but way out there I think a partition would open up better, A good compromise might be the LRAB I have had good results for closer shots with them and I am sure they would do well at extended ranges within their velocity threshold.

The Nosler LRAB will hold up, but I have never used them in anything bigger than the Swede so caveat emptor. I would go LRX or LRAB depending on which shot better in your rifle. The LRAB I would say opens better at lower velocities than the partitions and possibly the LRX and retains close to the same amount of weight as a partition but I can not say from personal experience as all of them have blown on through.

The 129s have worked so well that I haven't gotten around to trying the 140s, this again in the Swede. You will not be disappointed with any of these, but for me LRAB is it.

In my 26 Nosler the 140 Partition is more accurate than the 140 AccuBond, and also was quite accurate in the 6.5-.300 Weatherby I had for a while, a Mark V ULW. In both the 26 and 6.5-.300 the most accurate powder was 869, out of several tried (though with another, high-BC bullet in the 140-grain class 869 did not prove very accurate).

This might be due to a particular batch of 140 Partitons being exceptional, but have generally had good luck getting them to shoot in various 6.5 cartridges, including the 6.5x55, 6.5-06 and .264 Winchester.

You can’t go wrong with the 140 Partition. I wish they made a 140 tipped bear claw.

I'd bet that 6.5-300 ULW MkV jumped a bit when you touched it off...

Generally you don't think of 6.5's kicking, but that a lot of power in a relatively light package.

My 26 Nos is a re-barreled, 700 BDL, kicks about like it's original configuration in 7RM. But it's slightly heavier than the ULW MkV with #2, 26" Shilen.
