None of the mainstream new country is country, it's pop (or something that starts with shi*). There are a few traditionalists out there, but they don't get any real play.
Didn't Tom Petty say that modern country was 80's rock played badly? Look at Jason A with his band having double stacked amps on either side of the massive drum kit also on a pedestal then watch Willie or Cash or Loretta.
Kinda not the same somehow.........
When truth is ignored, it does not change an untruth from remaining a lie.
This is the first lady of country music talking. She has a country soul and knows the music as well as anyone alive today. I agree with her 100%. She's right on with her statement. This new country music SUCKS! It has no soul and doesn't resemble great country music. It's a different style of music that if you like you like, but don't shame country music by calling this crap that!!!
I'm old fashion like Lady Loretta, and I loved the old music. I loved Loretta's hits, especially her signature hit(All of them have a signature hit that people hear and associate with the one that made it famous nomatter who is singing it.)Coal Miner's Daughter. That song to her is like "He stopped Loving her Today" is to George Jones (Even though it wasn't my absolute favorite of his) or "Together Again" was to Buck Owens. Those all were fantastic country hits. I used to love old Jones hits such as "Walk Through This World With Me" or "If My Heart Had Windows" or " The Race is On." Buck Owens seems almost forgotten now days, but in 1966-1970 he had tons if hits, great music. Later we had Travis Tritt, Marty Stewart, Allen Jackson to name a few great ones come along and revive the brand. Now days when I accidently hear some of this modern Country Music(I don't go looking for it and turn the channel as soon as I recognize it) I almost get sick. It sounds like dragging your fingernails on a chalk board to me. It reminds me of Hard Rock when comparing it to 50-60s oldies classics. Anyway, I guess everybody get's my drift.
Pretty much sums it up for me.
"All that the South has ever desired was that the Union, as established by our forefathers, should be preserved, and that the government, as originally organized, should be administered in purity and truth." – Robert E. Lee
My wife and I are both 67. I grew up in Oklahoma and she is from Spain. She did not grow up listening to real country music on the AM radio, so she doesn't have any bias. She loves Loretta Lynn and her songs. She has zero interest in this modern day garbage that passes as "country music."

It was born dead, the mutant offspring of cowboy music, a legitimate art form. You all know the difference. country is one fella whining about how his gal and dog have left him and he's broke, drunk, and and down on his luck. cowboy music is a western group singing harmony about how much they love their horse (eg. Flying W Wranglers). ;-{>8
Like TV, the movies and a lot of other stuff, if you ain't PC, then you get no play. You can cuss and do all sorts of stuff that used to be socially unacceptable as long as you embrace [bleep], love bbc and claim to vote Dem. Country music singers are worse gun control advocates than most rock stars.
