If he did get CPR at the scene, that is a really bad sign; the head on hit into the wall was very close to the type of hit that killed Dale Sr, plus the flip & the hard roof landing.

Newman is one of the good guys, IMO & I surely hope he pulls through.

NASCAR thinks the fans like pack racing & crash-'em-ups, I guess...................they have been very lucky that no one else has been killed in all the last 2-3 lap crashes over the last few years completely due to their desire to make it "interesting". I;m just surprised that they can get 42 drivers that want to risk their lives.

And I used to love NASCAR & had an annual credential, been to most of the major tracks.

How were they supposed to know, almost every race ends that way and they just climb out of their cars and walk away.

You dont party untill everyone is out of their cars

How many race cars you been in?

Hundreds.
You?

Yea, hundreds, and I'm a two time world champion 1/4 mile dragboat racer, entering my 24th season.

So that's why you don't know anything about asphalt racing or the Daytona track.
You didn't even know where on the track his car was laying and where the winners circle is. STFU

Every driver in the field knew how Daytona is played, and all signed on for it.
Ryan would have been pushing if the situation had been reversed.

Yes, that's true, & half the field is pretty low on experience in that kind of racing as well.

Been there many times Yank, I probably forgot more about dirt track and asphalt racing than you'll ever know. Almost every saturday night in the off season I'm racing d bag.

That looked like a harder hit into the wall than the hit that killed Dale Earnhardt at Daytona. Not to mention the T-bone driver door hit.

Hope Newman is okay. No reliable word that I can find on his condition.

Hamlin was too aggressive bump drafting in the final turn.

Was not the wall hit but the car hitting the roof and drivers side.

Maybe someone else knows this, but does NASCAR post a medical chopper in the infield? At those speeds, the fluid dynamics of the human body would lead to a ruptured aorta. Even the immediate use of MAST trousers is no help. Hopefully, there can be good news.

I'm no expert by any means, but it looks like any one of the three impacts could have been fatal.

Taking that full force hit from the other car didn’t do him any favors. That was a horrible crash. Fingers crossed that he’ll pull it out.

This is correct. Many drivers have impacted the safer-barrier almost head on since Dale died They have all pretty much walked away.

Ryan was exposed to the oncoming car while upside down.

Sure wish Denny would have told Fox to f’ off until Ryan was found to be ok.

That woman in victory lane was too much for me.Had to turn it off.

Didn't watch any of the post race.

Didn't even know(or care) who won I was so distracted by Newman's wreck.

I hate to repeat possible rumors but saw on a Nascar twitter post that Newman is in serious to critical condition.

I remember Waltrip celebrating victory the day Earnhardt was killed. He just didn't know.

A good guy and probably the most outspoken driver when it comes to the wreckfests at plate-tracks.

For years he has talked about the inevitability of this exact scenario.
