Beautifully done! Having grown up on a dairy farm, where Mom raised 500 laying hens as well, we had egg custard and custard pies frequently....with mounds of real whipped cream. Pure delight!!

resembles my buttermilk pie recipe.
One day I'm doing cottage cheese and I don't care who doesn't like it, but I keep getting told buttermilk, not cottage cheese... LOL

My wife tagged me in a fb post about a recipe for old fashion custard pie, so I took it as a , hint, hint.
I actually like to cook, so I looked over the recipe, and got to work.
I didn't do a crust from scratch, but bought a 2 pack of pre made.
Instead of having a crust hanging around waiting for a later date, I made 2 !
They turned out awesome....
My wife owes me big time !! Big grin !!
Alright...
Got two in the oven.
We'll see!
I'll post up the results. Never made an egg custard pie before.
But I love 'em!

Interesting! I've never had custard pie, don't think I've even heard of it. I think I'll have to make some and try it. What's it comparable to?

This keeps up and we'll need to have a 'Campfire pie cooking shoot-out'. I volunteer my skillz as a judge.

I would say its comparable to flan, or just think of the custard in a donut, but firm.

Gotta try this, splatter. I do like egg custard. Piccadilly Cafeterias had some good stuff.
Thanks

No, it was pretty easy.
I did have to let it bake more than the recipe called for. At the 35-40 minute mark, it was still real watery.
My specialty is peach cobbler...
I know a few guys here at the Fire that can vouch for it.
