LOL. I also bought another 6mm CM and another 22-250 on GB yesterday. Looking to sell a few Kimbers in the coming days/weeks. And no....I don't have a 223 Montana.

The 280AI isn't planned until after the new action for .223's.

I'm thinking about sending off a 22-250 Fieldcraft to make a 22 CM out of it. Not sure that I want the expense of a new chambering to reload for.

A 280AI would be cool. But it would still have the 3.4" box.

really not sure why the thing would need to be any smaller for a .223. approx 5 lb gun, 21 in barrel ... its already as compact as youd want.

Good point!...I forgot about the 22CM. Maybe there will be another new cartridge introduced that will push them all back......there's such a shortage of good chamberings available to choose from we really must have another (someone add an eye roll for me).

I'd choose the 22CM over the 22-250 if given the choice from the start but I'd not undo a 22-250 that was done right to redo it into a 22CM.

I was joking about the .223 action and I agree there was no need for it, just mode the bolt/mag box/bolt stop (as needed) and use the current short action....leaving the mag box generous.

If they were going to put in that kind of effort, increasing the long action's length to allow more mag box room....like the "soon to be introduced" model AKwolverine mentioned.....rather than a new .223 action would be something to look at. It was part of the reason for my post.

One thing about Barrett though....what they do, they do really well. I'm with SAS in his belief they what they rolled out was the best lightweight rifle right out of the box ever massed produced.

I just received a 6.5 with #2 contour barrel, first Fieldcraft I have handled. I am impressed and I can see what all the fuss is about. Talleys arrive this afternoon and it will head to the range tomorrow. If it shoots half as good as most I have seen here I will be pretty happy. I am tempted to grab a 30-06 while they are still around, very nice rifles.

Agreed.
As it is, I keep going and looking at the .308s. Probably good that they’re not the shorter, threaded versions.
