Lots of people saw our imminent deaths then as well.
I'm not saying it isn't serious and I'm not saying it won't kill you. I will say the reaction is out of proportion, IMO.

Feel free to panic. Just don't look to include me. I have prepared as well as I can, through the years. Shrill screaming will not improve my situation. I've never mastered panic. Have fun.

I’m not seeing panic, aside from the usual cable news suspects. What I am hearing is solid messaging to limit your contact with people who you don’t know for obviously good reasons...This stuff is factually very contagious. YMMV.

Feel free to walk amongst the people without worry. Having a positive outlook such as yours, will help improve your recovery time should you get it.

The reason this is being taken so seriously is not just because of its potential for serious illness and death, but because it's contagious as hell.

Also, the virus can live on dry surfaces for 3 days. I think that's one of the biggest considerations.

I get what you’re saying 280, the media has cried wolf so many times no one believes them. But what if there is actually a wolf....

I’m not panicking personally, my family is at the lowest risk of it and we are well stocked. I’m trying to make it clear people should take it serious and make preparations accordingly if they have not already done so.

I know a significant number of people in West Michigan over the last few months that now believe they already had it. My self included. We had some really bad @#$% going around. The symptoms reported match those of COVID-19. Some of these folks work in the medical field. That bug was the worst I have had, if it got any worse, I was going to the hospital, couldn't breath ( not a normal flu or chest cold). I am in good shape no aliments 58, I could see how if you had any preconditions you are in a world of *&^%. One of my friends believes he had it and is now getting tested, as he can't get rid of his coughing. Reports of people coughing up blood. I may have had a really bad flu, but I will tell you I have had the flu many times, nothing like this. There is some bad ju ju out there. I hope to hell quinine works.

Our immune system CAN overcome it. Not everyone’s will and that’s sad. The world will not end however.

Agreed. Do what we can. Keep the blood pressure low. Rational thinking does not equal naysayer. Destroying the world's combined economies isn't helpful. How many deaths will that cause?

Well, the naysayers did step up.

Appreciate y’all’s perspectives.

One thing that does appear to standout to me is that those who live relatively isolated and are pretty much away from the throngs are the least bothered or more unbelieving of the seriousness of the co virus.

To me, those that have the first hand knowledge of this thing should be heeded in their warnings.

As to the Political side of this, when has any potential large scale threat NOT had politics involved ?

Several people in our community had something like it too. A 90 year old said it was like nothing he’d ever experienced . Of course that doesn’t mean it was corona virus , but makes you wonder. Personally, I had a respiratory illness of some sort unlike ever. It was a little scary because I could definitely tell my breathing was hampered. Thankfully, I have strong lungs in the first place and generally am healthy.

H1N1 and Obama.
With me, it just might be what the MSM has done over the past 3+ years. When they scream that the sky is falling is generally when I step outside helmetless.

Same here, hit me Dec 26, woke with a high fever that was virtually gone late that night, dry cough/aches/pains persisted for weeks.
Wife had same deal but is a smoker and hers got damn near pneumonia before she shook it.
We are both mid 50's
Who knows?

Maybe having a brain trust like Andrew Cuomo report on it helped. Maybe telling the public N95 masks are not effective, then telling them they are reserved for the doctors in the same breath. If you talk slowly and with simple words it will be co..rr..ect. FY....

yep

You can calmly deal with a crisis with facts and common sense or ignorance, emotions and hysterics.

Oh I just hear from my cousin that the all us airborne and navy SEALs units are being activated to go house to house to take all the guns from Americans. I heard they are accessing states hunting license data bases to help ID gun owners. And I saw on facebook DHS is ramping up their poison bullet factories again too.

There’s always misinformation to consider and seems to be plenty of it out there.

Just a comment.

I’d say Trump and his team are using facts and common sense in dealing with this.

another thing to keep in mind is that Covid attacks the same people the flu does. A lot of those people will get Covid before they would have gotten the flu. The overall result may end up being few if any more deaths than a normal flu season.

BTW, my doctor is still seeing patients who THINK they have Covid. So far NONE of them have it.
