Before the 60s, Americans typically held authority in high regard. WW I and WW II would have turned out much different had that not been the case.
That changed drastically during the 60s, primarily due to Socialist provocateurs. Watergate was probably the biggest single incident that destroyed .gov's credibility. Death count in Italy today was 627. I think yesterday was 375 & that was the highest to date. Give it a couple of weeks------we'll make those numbers look mall.

Geno: I understand what you are trying to tell me. Combine it with with the fact most who do contact it will survive and go on, and it will be with us next year and for many after that, then for now it is something we will have to learn to live and die with and from. However, I doubt it will be a killer of exponential proportions
I certainly hope you're the correct one Battue. I do hope the measures being take flatten the curve some. I'm not so sure the economic events occurring are the direct result of the measures. More so, I think it's the panic syndrome humans seem to be so fond of. Perhaps other species too, when one sees those videos of African herd animals, thousands of them fleeing one lioness. Wife has a close friend (they are godmothers to each other’s first born) who is a family practice MD. Her husband is an ER MD. They are very concerned. He is not going home after his shift....staying in a hotel near the hospital. She is staying home with their kids, says they are trying to make sure their kids come through this with at least one parent. This is hard to contemplate. My heart is with them.

More than 99% of Italy’s coronavirus fatalities were people who suffered from previous medical conditions,0.8% of the total deaths, had no previous pathology. Almost half of the victims suffered from at least three prior illnesses and about a fourth had either one or two previous conditions. More than 75% had high blood pressure, about 35% had diabetes and a third suffered from heart disease. The average age of those who’ve died from the virus in Italy is 79.5. As of March 17, 17 people under 50 had died from the disease. All of Italy’s victims under 40 have been males with serious existing medical conditions.

And "the flu" does not hospitalize 20% of those diagnosed, nor kill 50% of those hospitalized. Nor does the number of those diagnosed with the flu double every four days.
If one does not consider that a signiticant difference, there is little hope.
Please enlighten us to the source of your “facts.” That would be a 10% death rate...

Why not all this back with the ZeroBama was battlin H1n1? That’s where I’m at. Where were all of you when 30-60,000 Americans died of the flu the past two years.

If everybody knew what the people working in hospitals knew, they wouldn't think it's a hoax.
The truth of the matter is, news of the situation isn't being exaggerated,...it's being minimized. My wife and more than a few friends work in hospitals. What you wrote above is simply not true. It isnt a hoax, it is however being blown wildly out of proportion. If you post the address of the hospital, I'll see about having the over-flow from here sent to it. 50 confirmed cases in Kentucky?! Overflow? How the [bleep] big is the first aid center in butcher holler?

My father walked into the hospital January, 8 years ago at age 90 with pneumonia.
He rolled out in a hearse 10 days later.
When he was admitting, the nurse said, "This hospital is full of old people with pneumonia"
If COVID-19 is 10X as contagious, it is possible the annual 60,000 flu and pneumonia deaths could increase to the point of hospital overflow. That could get on the radar of the 3,000,000 deaths we have each year.

They're knocking the [bleep] out it and money's flying out of it in every direction, none of which seems to have a chance of helping even in the short term, and the long term damage we're doing will make the pain we suffer from the outbreak look mild.
No doubt, this is very serious, and obviously some tough measures have to be taken, but you don't burn your house to the ground to get rid of a cock roach infestation, and that is EXACTLY what we are doing right now. If the feds actually shut the entire country down for 14 days, it WILL become 30. At that point all bets are off. I'll be heading to the hills with as much ammo and food as I can and taking any necessary measures needed to protect my family. Anyone that thinks you can turn our economy off like a light switch for 30 days, and then just turn it back on and everything s back to normal is an idiot. We're talking a socio/economic reset and more than likely an entirely new form of society and governance. I don't think we're going to like the new structure forced upon us.
