Death count in Italy today was 627. I think yesterday was 375 & that was the highest to date. Give it a couple of weeks------we'll make those numbers look mall.

I certainly hope you're the correct one Battue.

I do hope the measures being take flatten the curve some. I'm not so sure the economic events occurring are the direct result of the measures. More so, I think it's the panic syndrome humans seem to be so fond of. Perhaps other species too, when one sees those videos of African herd animals, thousands of them fleeing one lioness.

Enjoy your afternoon and the rest of this interesting set of circumstances.

This is hard to contemplate. My heart is with them.

More than 99% of Italy’s coronavirus fatalities were people who suffered from previous medical conditions,0.8% of the total deaths, had no previous pathology. Almost half of the victims suffered from at least three prior illnesses and about a fourth had either one or two previous conditions.

More than 75% had high blood pressure, about 35% had diabetes and a third suffered from heart disease.
The average age of those who’ve died from the virus in Italy is 79.5. As of March 17, 17 people under 50 had died from the disease. All of Italy’s victims under 40 have been males with serious existing medical conditions.

Please enlighten us to the source of your “facts.” That would be a 10% death rate...

That’s where I’m at. Where were all of you when 30-60,000 Americans died of the flu the past two years.

My wife and more than a few friends work in hospitals. What you wrote above is simply not true.

It isnt a hoax, it is however being blown wildly out of proportion.

If you post the address of the hospital, I'll see about having the over-flow from here sent to it.

My father walked into the hospital January, 8 years ago at age 90 with pneumonia.
He rolled out in a hearse 10 days later.
When he was admitting, the nurse said, "This hospital is full of old people with pneumonia"

If COVID-19 is 10X as contagious, it is possible the annual 60,000 flu and pneumonia deaths could increase to the point of hospital overflow. That could get on the radar of the 3,000,000 deaths we have each year.

No vaccines, maybe.

You could make a similar case for auto accidents.

Times like this demand well thought, measured reactions.
Unfortunately it seems our representatives our blindfolded swinging wildly at an economic pinata. They're knocking the [bleep] out it and money's flying out of it in every direction, none of which seems to have a chance of helping even in the short term, and the long term damage we're doing will make the pain we suffer from the outbreak look mild.

No doubt, this is very serious, and obviously some tough measures have to be taken, but you don't burn your house to the ground to get rid of a cock roach infestation, and that is EXACTLY what we are doing right now. If the feds actually shut the entire country down for 14 days, it WILL become 30. At that point all bets are off. I'll be heading to the hills with as much ammo and food as I can and taking any necessary measures needed to protect my family. Anyone that thinks you can turn our economy off like a light switch for 30 days, and then just turn it back on and everything s back to normal is an idiot. We're talking a socio/economic reset and more than likely an entirely new form of society and governance. I don't think we're going to like the new structure forced upon us.

Only a little over 200 Americans have died so far.
It’s the Flu, maybe a highly contagious one, but does not seem to be as deadly as the Fake News Media is making it out to be.

World economy and not just ours.

Wait till this stuff hits Africa, Philippines, Indonesia.

Hoping it doesn’t and that this is short lived.

When/if this mess is over and we're still a sovereign country with a rational President (Trump) I hope he takes it to China with both barrels and beats them back into the Ming dynasty. He should make sure their economy and military is neutered for generations.

Jm, I think it’s a little late for China punitive to have long term effects. Whether we like it or not they’re a major world power economic and military wise. They have many other world portals to draw from and they’ll use them. The EU will bend to their will, economically.

There’s something at the foundation of our humanity that secretly yearns for an apocalypse, despite it not being in our best interests. This is as old as our species.

Everyone just needs to stop long enough for us to figure out where the disease is, so we can deal with it. We’ll all be better off, the less we freak out.

The media is not helping the situation. Everyone need to step back and breathe.

This is a last ditch hail mary power play by the global new world order elites. They are losing and backed into a corner, and as we all know a cornered desperate animal is very dangerous.
