I didn't read, but did hear it quoted, some economists looked at the effects of the Spanish Flu lock down , the areas that did it , recovered quicker. It doesn't help you if they repossessed your pickup. You can hunt longer with wind at your back

I'm guessing they are going for instant herd immunity , if they have a strong enough healthcare system, it might work. Depends on the ICU availability to make it work.
