I have a nephew who is highly intelligent, does job interviews well, and regularly talks himself into high-paying jobs that require him to live and work all over the world. He's also bipolar, but as long as he stays on his meds, it's controllable. He tried the "Russian bride" thing and ended up with a real hottie with a 7 year old daughter when they married. Mama and daughter lived really well, nice house, new car, visits back home to Russia regularly, private school, etc. About the time daughter got into a good college, mama filed for divorce. Now the idiot is living on the seacoast in Thailand, and - - - - -you guessed it- - - - -he just married another young hottie! Some guys never learn!

Not 'mail-order' brides but have known several who married Filipinos and brought them to the USA. Only one I know that stuck around and stayed married died a few years back after being in a nursing home for a few years for some kind of dementia and she was just middle aged too. Nice lady.
All the rest skipped out relatively early in the marriage. A common reason was they were very lonely, missed family and lifelong friends and/or couldn't adjust to cultural differences.
To be fair, though, some married men who were just selfish azzholes anyway and likely couldn't take any more of their crap.

I’ve dated Filipino’s and never had to deal with the family thing. But they were already here.
Slavyanka is Ukrainian, originally came here with a Canadian guy she met there. Found out too late he was bi-polar. He ended up committing suicide and leaving her with 2 kids and nothing else. Not even life insurance.
I met her at work and got to know her over a few years. She was a hard worker and was able to buy a house for her and her kids.
Through her I’ve met others from Eastern Europe. The majority of the marriages have worked out. Heard about a few older guys who got screwed over by much younger women. Roll of the dice and if you didn’t get a pre-nup you are a fool.
OTOH, if you take a beautiful young woman from metro Moscow and plunk her down in the middle of butt-fuque Alaska or the like, you’re asking for trouble. Hey Hey!.......I live in Buttfuque, Alaska and I'm already surrounded by Russians. Don't be sending any more.

What most of us Yanks don't realize is the world wide appeal of a U.S. passport. An Mrs. is the quickest way to get into America. Karla was a blond and blue model from the Netherlands at a converting show booth next to ours in Dusseldorf and to say she was fast would be an understatement. My boss wouldn't let me stay with her, but we wrote back and forth for a time and she wanted over here REAL badly. Your boss was a douche nozzle....😬😎 The boss wanted me vertical. There are very common legal documents called pre-nuptial agreements. Would highly recommend having one signed before bringing over hottie from cheethole country dejour.

I have a friend that I think might have done the mail order bride thing. There were happy pics of first wife then gone. He was lamenting the hit to his pension for a while then a new Filipino bride shows up on his facebook feed. He is now in Idaho. He says she was raised on a farm and shows pictures of her skinning and butchering deer for the neighbors. Putting in her own vegetable gardens, building a pig pen to raise her own meat and lots of other interesting pics of her working. If she is a mail order bride, he scored big time.

Because the vet care where I live in Redneckville doesn’t handle super sick dogs worth a fook...I have No guns to shoot. No fish to catch...Just waking up early to stuff pills into my mutts face to get him back in the game ASAP, so we can get back home.

Beaver, It's very real. Divorce rate are slightly higher then normal, but not much. Most of the variance can be accounted for the "cross cultural" nature of the relationships which also have a slightly higher divorce rate.
