I am conflicted - the best of both worlds drover I can live with that. (Chambering?)
Not a real member - just an ordinary guy who appreciates being able to hang around and say something once in awhile.

I like both. Walked into a gunshow with a century AK, walked out with the Savage.

So many people seem to be missing my point that I guess I'll just put it bluntly---so many people think that the only use of firearms is to kill other people. Only when the hunting seasons are closed! memtb

I don't run my ARs anymore but I do frequently take them out for a walk and tactically slay coyotes w/ them.
My guns are tools that I enjoy using. Practicing frequently w/ them is fun w/ a purpose. My hunting rifles are dependable, accurate and well cared for but not extensions of my ego or decorations. I fully understand the fascinations of others for fine guns but get tired of hearing about how others are lesser beings for having different tastes or uses.
Talk of spray and pray and running a platform and tactical timmies is reminiscent of Joe Biden giving advice on home defense...or any other topic.
YMMV

I love it! those same plastic gun lovers are selling grandpa's guns that they inherited for pennies on the dollar so they can buy boring Tupperware junk that can't keep a group inside a 5-gallon bucket at 100 yards. The bargain racks at most gun shops and virtually all pawnshops are filled to overflowing with the high quality wood and blue steel rifles I couldn't afford to buy when they were new! I walked out of a pawn shop just east of Memphis with a scoped, sporterized US 1917 chambered in 300 H&H Magnum with a vintage Reinhardt Fajen stock (NOT the junk they produced after Potterfield bought the company) for less than $300.00 awhile back! That's one of several bargain rack custom guns I've acquired for chump change! Jerry ^^^^^ This I have found my share of gems. Little work on em Gtg. Also have buck rodgers things. More walnut and blue stuff though. They all are tool,s for their own purpose. Take care of your tools They will last then beyond your lifespan.

When my dad and his brothers grew up in the 30s and 40s they didn’t buy guns for fun either. It’s just the sign of the times. So they never had a .22 for "killing" cans? It was a way of practicing marksmanship, but it was fun, too. I'm not sure what you mean by "it's just a sign of the times". Times wer much tougher back in the 60s and early 70s than they are today. You had widespread antiwar protests and the riots in Detroit, Newark, Watts and the rest were much worse than anything that's happened in Ferguson or Baltimore. Yet, people didn't have the fake fear that they have nowadays. Half of our customers are wannabe operators. They don't shoot an AR, they run an AR platform, and on, and on. No, and would sometimes split a box of 22 longs to go rabbit hunting, longs were cheaper.

I just sold my last AR a few weeks ago. I can't stand them. Give me a lever action 357 for self defense and I'm fine. I don't plan on dying in a firefight. Watch out you are regular old reincarnation of Chuck Connors do we call You the “rifleman” ?
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

I work in a gunshop that specializes (like most these days) in plastic pistols and black rifles. It has a "cool" tactical sounding name, too. I'm 60 years old and miss the "good ole days" when people bought guns when they were fun. I know the need for the 2nd Amendment and its defense but so many getting into guns nowadays only see it as a defensive tool for dire situations. They don't appreciate walnut, bluing, a nice over-under or a good target .22. It's depressing. They actually think that cheap plastic stocks and cerakote are "better". Two years ago when I bought a Remington Model 7 with a laminated stock, I was asked why I didn't get a Ruger American. It goes on, and on... Rant over. And they are voting too. 😁😆
