That CZ is a nice rifle, especially for the price. $496.00 retail, real world price is less.

Best bang for the buck 10/22. Plus, if you don't like it as is, plenty of after market parts to customize.

I guess it would be 15 years competing in rimfire benchrest matches from local matches to National and World Championships. In our local non-sanctioned matches guys would show up with all types of guns and I never saw a Marlin of any type win one. Remington 541s, CZ 452s, Anshcutz 1700 series, Winchester 52s and Cooper 57ms were the ones that shot the best for factory sporters. You can probably guess which one I shot and won with before moving up to sanctioned matches and full custom rifles.

No,...I can't guess. I'm not from Missouri. But I grew up about 40 miles east of there.

Fixed it.

Don't get me wrong. I have a HARD ON for Cooper rifles. Have one in .204 Ruger. The only Cooper I own, but wished I owned one in every caliber

But............. Rimfire? Bang for the buck........ I just feel like there are better options.

But I am 100% with you with the Cooper love. The dog in my avatar on this post was named COOPER smile God bless him.

I personally see very little value in bench shooting anyway and it bores the piss outta me. All of my practice these days is for hunting and since 95% of the shots I take while hunting are done offhand or kneeling, that's what I practice. A rifle doesn't need to be capable of winning a bench match to be perfectly satisfactory for that. I do have a couple of Marlin .22's that will consistently group 5 shots in the 1/2 - 3/4" inch range at 50 yards and they work fine for my practice and small game hunting.

Coopers are pretty bad azzed and known for their inherent accuracy. Kind of like the winchester model 52 back in their day..

I'm not sure.My friend, who was at the Shot Show, told me about this.

I'll hazard a guess that it will retail for about $1,200 to 1,400 .

I should know in a few months when they're readily available.

OMG, I never kept any. I only shot groups when testing ammo or testing new guns that my gunsmith built for myself or other customers. For practice, I shot IR50/50 targets which requires one shot at each of 25 bulls.. A high score on that meant more than group size to me. But, I've shot more one hole 50 yrd groups than you can imagine. I didn't take pictures of them. They wouldn't impress the guys I shot against much, as we all shot plenty of them.

I try not to get into these type of discussions much cause what I consider "best" for a rimfire rifle is well beyond what most shooters would even consider. But since the OP asked for opinions for the "best" factory .22 lr, I felt I was qualified to offer up an opinion. Take it for what it's worth. I don't usually challenge shooters who make claims but implying a cheap Marlin could keep up with a real quality rimfire was too much for me to ignore.

Rimfire rifles were a passion of mine for about 20 years with 15 of those being in pretty serious benchrest competitions. I know benchrest may not be everybody's cup of tea, but when you are after the ultimate in rimfire accuracy (as I was) that's where it will take you and there is no better way to test the real accuracy potential of a rifle.
