I think Bleiker has overtaken Anschutz in 3-position now. https://www.pardiniguns.com/store/p...98&osCsid=13shbepitnf118khg2g1bc1bi4

As to sporters, the best factory rifle was likely the Dakota rimfire. The New York Kimbers are great handling guns too.

If you are talking silhouette rifles, send the best action you can find to Pharr or McDonald. I think the Stiller action has overtaken the Anschutz and 40x here.

mmmm-hmmmm

The guy who keeps pictures of small one-hole groups is most likely someone who hasn't shot too many of them.

Wow Lester, that's a great price. My local guy is almost $100 more for that one.

I think for an all around 22 rifle to beat around and kill stuff with on my farm as a kid and still to this day as an adult would have to be some sort of lever action rifle. Whether it be a Marlin, Winchester, Browning, Henry or whatever I just can’t see anything being better for plinking and just plain having some fun! 22s are made to get beat around and used so don’t spend a ton of $$$ on something you wouldn’t want to do that with. Lever action all the way for an all around 22 rifle!

In the used rifle market, the older Remington 581's are generally very accurate. Triggers can be upgraded if desired. Currently selling on GB for anywhere from $160 to $350 depending on condition. Available in Right Hand and Left Hand, if that matters.

I have sold or traded through a number of rimfire rifles over the years, including a couple Anschutz. My only rimfire rifle at the moment is a Left Hand Rem 581...

Holy cow manure. Bleiker's are expensive.

Older Kimber model 82's made in Oregon.

+1

OP said “best”, no mention of price range or intended use.

I’ve had a Rem 40X Sporter with clip, Kimber of Oregon, Win 52 custom and a Cooper. The Cooper stayed, others went down the road. Cooper is the finest all around .22 LR I’ve ever handled and for a number of reasons. Mine wears a Kahles 2-7 rimfire scope, a perfect match for the rifle.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Bristoe be like out at the truck pulling his single shot Savage, that he hasn't looked at since 2015, out from under the seat and dusting the rust off of it. Getting ready to shoot some 1-hole groups at 200 yards with some 20-year old Remington Golden Bullets.

He'll post pictures as soon as he "git's 'er done".

It's official. I missed the selfie deadline so I'm Maser's sock puppet because rene and the Polish half of the fubar twins have decided that I am.

I've won a fair number of club Factory Class benchrest matches, including an annual aggregate, with that exact combo.

I use an old green Hart rest much like Cooper57's.

I'd love to add a Yonkers K22 Classic Select to the safe.

Sounds like jmp300wsm just wants to get up to speed on what's available in 22LR rifles and not end up with a dog. Not uncommon for someone to start a thread then dial it in from the original post with some followup posts.

Ain't nothing wrong with that combo (I've recommended it to many) and I never felt the need to upgrade from that Hart rest.

I shoot a NULA .22 that's incredibly accurate....but that's not factory.

No argument that this is "best"d but.....About a month ago I KNEW it was about to hit and decided I better get my Zombie rifle ready. I purchased a laminate/stainless 10/22 carbine...$366 shipped. I picked up a Raven Eye Custom pillar and Marine Tex'd it in (~$12). I trashed the barrel band, dremeled out the barrel channel to free float it, and full length neutral bedded it with Marine Tex....some of the barrel channel is spotty but I'm not to worried about it right now. Put a pic rail on it (got the hollow center but still can't see sights with scope removed) and a 4x Prostaff and started shooting steel with a 1" dot. At 50 yards everything's in the dot for 3 mags (old Tac-22 ammo)....I wasn't expecting that. It could certainly use a new trigger group but for less than $400 (and a little hands-on) and a little time it's tough to beat. I need to put the 10x SWFA on it and see what it will do at 100.

Still need to add a front sling swivel and may hollow the stock a little. ...maybe need to add something for a single point sling for ease of carry when the brain eaters show up....
