Was just reading about the horrible shooting that took place there and the governments suggestion to “lock the door and hide in the basement”.

I feel bad for our Canadian campfire members...

Hide in the basement...I’d be mulling over which hollow points to use and questioning if I could be prosecuted for digging them out with a knife to check bullet performance

No where did they say don't arm yourself while you hunkered down...…
Not to defend the libs but in this case the perp was dressed in an RCMP uniform and driving
a vehicle realistically mocked up as an RCMP patrol car. Now, are you going to shoot at every
RCMP vehicle and officer that comes on your property or, are you going to nail the one that actually
assaults your house?
One huge issue however with the hunker down process was that he apparently was burning folks out then
shooting them as they tried to escape. Bad chitt all the way around.
I'm not going to post on an open forum that I am sure is .gov.ca monitored about what I would do but I can say that
most Canadians aren't the pussies you are implying we are. We are unfortunately governed by a bunch of pussies in many Provinces.

Pretty much. Also, pretty sure I've heard "shelter in place" mentioned quite a few times in the good ol USA, even recently.

Our government doesn't give much better advice. I am sure our Canadian campfire brothers are of the same mindset, if you are waiting for the government to protect you or tell you how to do it, you are already dead for all intensive purposes.

Would the American authorities tell you to get out on the street and gun down whoever doesn't look right when there's an unknown shooter at large? Whatever. Thanks for your thoughtless comment Quak.

I believe I have seen that a time or two as well. There is much to be said about holding a home court advantage.
I don't believe that "shelter in place" means don't be ready to defend your loved ones etc.

Fortunately I don’t need to ask my government who to gun down...it’s my discretion

jdunham;
Good evening to you sir, I hope the day was as bright, clear and warm for you folks as it was here and I trust this finds you and yours well.

One of the tenets of good people management I did my level best to adhere to when I was working was to praise in public and reprimand in private. The internet has somehow changed how many of us choose to express ourselves, sometimes not a positive one, but sometimes it is and then it should be recognized.

Thanks kindly for understanding that there are both conservative minded folks as well as socialist minded people on both sides of the medicine line and for giving us Canucks who've frequented the cyber 'Fire from the north side of the medicine line the benefit of the doubt

It speaks well for your understanding of the situation as well as the human condition, so a sincere tip of the hat to you sir.

We're all trying to make sense of a world few of us would have imagined scant months ago and it's my hope that some positive outcomes will result. As always of course, history will be the ultimate judge as it always had been and ever will be.

Thanks again and stay well.

Dwayne

Again...my apologies. I truly wasn’t implying that all Canadian citizens were pussies. Poor choice of title I suppose. I will be frank though...your elected government IS a bunch of vaginas.

Seriously...my thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this senseless act. I thank GOD every day that I have the ability to protect my family and loved ones at all times. Hell my wife would draw and shoot before I even had a chance

No worries, we are all in this together.

A vagina is useful though LOL. Liberal pussies=not useful.

Quak: I absolutely LOVE Canadians and used to live real close to them and marched in their parades from Victoria to Vancouver to Calgary!
I vacationed and fished in Canada off and on for the first 49 years of my life - I felt welcome and respected in ALL my excursions to Canada.
I remember as a child when the Canadians "decided" their money was no longer on a par with American currency and began charging a one cent premium on their money over "ours".
Still I loved Canada and Canadians!
But this hide in the basement contention has me questioning my 70+ year long affection and allegiance for Canada/Canadians!
Danger comes near my "door" and AR-15's, Glocks and riot 870's will come, almost instantly, into play!
I indeed do have a steel doored "safe room" in my basement but that is for "family" until the gunsmoke clears!.
Aside from that I have dealt with Canadian Law Enforcement professionally over 3 decades and from their conduct and attitude I would have to say your contention is bullschit?
Never seen or even heard of a "cowardly" Canadian Law Enforcement type - but maybe things have changed? Drastically?

I know a lot of Canadians and have played Hockey with even more. I would never label "Canadian's" as pussy's.

That was a terrible deal and can't honestly say how that would work out here. We have precautions in place that we try to abide to but you never know how things are actually going to work out.

Great neighbors and great allies. I can't think of another country I'd rather have on our border. I hope they feel the same about us.
