Serious question here- - - - -not pot-stirring. At what point would a deadly-force intervention by a private citizen be justified to prevent a uniformed officer from committing murder? Would beating an unconscious, non-resisting, and restrained person with a baton be sufficient cause for at least shooting to stop the threat, or would drawing a weapon and placing it against the head of a helpless detainee justify an armed response? At what point, if any, should a CCW carrier be compelled to fire on a rogue cop?

You can shoot somebody whenever you feel like it. It's being able to explain your reasoning that gets kinda tricky. But based on your posts so far, I'm pretty sure you'd be fugked regardless. Cop or otherwise. No, you can't just shoot whoever you want whenever and wherever, even if you can explain it. In some states, the law does not permit you to use self-defense against an unlawful arrest, no matter how compelling the facts. Montana is such a state, FWIW.

In my life, it always seems that the guys who wanted to become cops had the little man or little dick complex. Barneys with guns, and the authority to hide behind the badge. Judge jury and executioner. 4 cops to hold down one guy who is handcuffed? People on this forum yak about the totalitarian government, the fascist state or big government, too much government over reach, or the Police State. WOW! Does anyone remember Randy Weaver and Ruby Ridge?! A sheriff once told me (not a deputy mind, you the sheriff himself) that people who want to become cops are generally people who enjoy controlling others. That's why they choose the profession. It's not a universal rule mind you, but the correlation is very high.

The rush to judgement in this thread and other previous ones is telling. If this was a first and not a continued pattern views might be different I disagree sir. Plenty of people in jail are first time offenders. These guys shouldn't get a pass because they are cops. Qualified immunity doesn't protect someone who knowingly violates someone's rights. Problem is whether someone is willing to risk the arrest and treatment by bully cops and an unknown court and legal process. These bully cops don't discriminate about who they target. Anyone deemed weaker is fair game. I think too many cops are just trying to get along by staying silent and turning a blind eye because they don't want a target on their backs too. Start making cops pay insurance costs to cover lawsuits and this will help stop some of this nonsense. Just make all legal costs come out of the collective police retirement fund. Give every cop a stake in the misbehavior of other cops and this stuff will stop.
