They lie and call them lab crosses. My wife sees it at the vets office she works at all the time.

I imagine they'll deny the claim after the pit mix kills someone and gets sued. But as mentioned most pit owners barely have enough money after their meth cigs and beer purchase to buy their weekly lottery ticket let alone afford a mortgage and home owner's insurance lol

The sad thing about that is that in denying the claim they are denying medical coverage for sweet Sally Sue who sounds like a cat.

Absolutely.

If you read the law in that Miami-Dade link you can see how they outlawed the breed without outlawing the breed.

Unless you're Lebron James or Dwayne Wade, you cannot afford to own a pitbull legally.

Maybe you can point out where we al missed it. Pit bulls are a worthless breed, and it's apparent what's dumb to you is not too dumb to lots of folks regarding this subject.

I'll make that statement JG. I have caught my own dogs chasing or harassing my stock and killed them. I have caught my own dogs chasing or harassing my neighbors stock and put them down. Never batted an eye. Have never had a dog that has bit anyone but people are way more precious than livestock and would put it down in a hasty manner.

I do however like a dog that barks. A better burglar alarm doesn't exist (unless its a guinea fowl) Dogs as most know are territorial just like wolves or coyotes and I require my dogs stay on their own property and NEVER roam. Some folks are surprised that a dog would run out at them in passing when it is just in their nature to do so.

I have read more than a few posts here in the last couple of weeks advocating the total eradication of species , mainly snakes and pit bulls and that is wrong thinking and deserves to be challenged. All Gods creatures have a place and a reason for being. Even venomous snakes and Pitt bulls.

My first post simply stated that I owned a rescue Pitt that was an exception to the rule. I have been referred to as a stupid blowhard fool by folks that do not know me. However Teri and I live a nice quiet rural life here on the Red River just across from Burkburnett Tx 1 1/2 miles west of the Kiowa casino. you guys are welcome to come by and pet my bulldog while we have coffee on the front patio just like every good campfire member I have met does. She will bark at you when you drive up though like any good country dog should...

I ve owned lots of hunting dogs in my life and I socialized all of them around other dogs, kids, livestock early in their lives so they would nt freak out and chase and kill things.

I have had a vet tell me the way she handles untractable dogs that need attention at the front end by sticking an ice cube up their butt. They forget all about what'/s going on up front.

So there you have it. Always go armed with a bag of ice cubes....

My wife and I barely escaped several times over the ast few weeks. We are clearing some trees out of our 1.5 acre jungle around the house (anoither story!), and hauling the slash a few miles down the road to a place that wants fill.

The first time, no one was there except an exceptionally pretty pit bull. Darned thing was ecstatic to see us, especially on successive trips when she recognized the truck.. Between the demand for pets, the face licking (she was tasting us for a future kill, I suppose - and I seldom allow strange dogs anywhere near my head or neck), we darned near couldnt get back into the truck. We did keep our dogs in the truck.

Be advised I do exercise greater caution around "attack dogs", than I do the common mutt, or other putebreds like Labs, GR, etc. - reading the individual dog is a skill to be cultivated. And yeah, a woman with a pit is a red flag.

A week later, Honey HalfLab went out the window which I had left unrolled too far, and the two dogs had a grand time while I unloaded.

If we are going to blamket wrap whole categories of things, I suggest you blanket pit bull haters are probably the same folks that wantonly kill snakes.

So there!

I agree. I have not owned a Pit in many years but I have a friend who I occasionally hog hunt with and he keeps a pair of huge pits as catch dogs. The fact is they are very friendly dogs especially with kids, They have to be controlled around strangers because some people just don't pass inspection. I figure it is they fear the pits and fear to any dog causes a lot of them to become aggressive. The incredible thing to me that gets a lot of people bitten is the IDIOTIC act of sticking your hand in the dogs face! WTH! Why in the world would you do that? The dog can smell you from many yards away. The best thing to do is ignore the dog and if he decides to come over and make your acquaintance then be friendly. I have seen sooo many people do the most idiotic things around dogs. This said a lot of Pits are kept on chains almost around the clock to guard doors, these dogs when they get loose are a lot of times very dangerous. If someone has a dog on a lead do not mess with that dog! It is not your dog so why would you think it cares for you to pet it? In many ways I can't judge others by myself and handling dogs is one of those things. I wear heavy boots, I have been handling large tough dogs for many years, I don't do the idiotic things many people do around dogs that piss them off. I captured a Pit this spring and found it's owner to return her. Beautiful grey and white dog friendly as can be. I just had Amber stop her, put a lead on the dog and put a sign on my mailbox post saying "found Grey and white Pit". Kept the dog on my porch till the owner showed up, a Lady that lives four houses away. That said I have found that people who hate dogs in general are usually low life POS.

Yep, other dogs make judgment mistakes, too, but rarely cause as much damage when they do. It's a combination of fearlessness, determination to never quit, jaw and body strength/energy that causes the problem when one makes a mistake like this. Most of them have very friendly dispositions, but when one doesn't, and he's not controlled around a stranger, he can cause severe damage.

A crazy lady who allows her blood thirsty pit to roam freely around the neighborhood is a good thing and I know dog behavior. Good thing you returned it to her so she can keep letting it roam to kill children and livestock, dogs, cats freely. Just fuggin stupid

I was hiking yesterday and found two rattle snakes. I caught them and put in a sack in my back pack.I was afraid some snake hater would kill them. I returned home and put them in my neighbor's kid's sand box because they seemed to like the warm sand. I bet you hate snakes just like you hate dogs flave!!

You just laid out a case for why nobody really needs a Pit. While Pits don't have a monopoly on this, they are over-represented in the cases where apparently people do stupid schidt. Most breeds don't need this warning label.

I have never had a dog for which anyone needed to pass inspection. Every dog I have owned would think "treat" or "here comes love" when a hand approached its face. None have ever interpreted normal human behavior as idiotic. None have ever gotten pissed at people.

Not so much. Panic and abject fear make me think less of someone both morally (cowardice) and intellectually.

That said, I do agree that folk ought to keep their critters, selves, and other possessions off of others' property. It is part of being a good neighbor and not being a general nuisance. I despise folks who spill their dysfunction out and about such that others are forced to clean up the mess.

Yep I remember and that's my point. You cant train out genetics from a breed. Thats why I'll never own a chow or rot or pit
