I recall several years ago some liberal US news outlet during a US election refer to the southern voters as the "NASCAR VOTE".
At first I thought it was funny, but eventually thought it was a pretty slimy slam against southern American voters.

I still watch them some. its nothing like it used to be. local boy quin houff is running but not doing very well. going to charlotte tomorrow to pick up a show car from one of the race shops and bring it back houff's race shop so they can do a wrap on it.

I stopped watching years ago. 2.5 hours of boredom followed by a big wreck at the end. You mean you're not on the edge of your seat watching the drafting lap after lap until teams negotiate a pass? All because the cars aren't allowed to have balls. Probably mandate electric cars all with the same "approved" motor next.
