Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) on Tuesday lambasted Anthony Fauci over his assessment of the recent surge in coronavirus cases in the U.S., claiming that his state did not need advice from the nation's top infectious disease expert.

"Fauci said that he's concerned about states like Texas that skipped over certain things. He doesn't know what he's talking about," Patrick said on Fox News after Fauci testified before a Senate committee about the U.S. response to the coronavirus outbreak. "We haven't skipped over anything."

"The only thing I'm skipping over is listening to him," Patrick added. "He has been wrong every time, on every issue. I don't need his advice anymore. We'll listen to a lot of science, we'll listen to a lot of doctors, and [Gov. Greg Abbott (R)], myself and other state leaders will make the decision. No thank you, Dr. Fauci."

Pandering to his base. I hate politicians, and this is one of the reasons why. Words are cheap, actions are everything. Fauci is obviously a POS and a shill and incompetent at best. What matters is what policies the Lt. Governor implements and enforces, not what his pandering statements are. Words are worth less than nothing.

I don't care what opinions those actually in power have, so much as I care what POLICIES they make and enforce. Again, he is pandering, and it means nothing. What means everything is how he ACTS. Since I am not in charge of the legal policies of Texas or any State, all I have is my ability to voice my opinion. Are you claiming that I should for some reason just be happy that he has voiced an opinion similar to mine, regardless of what he does?
