1954 action, 1955 barrel that grades out as excellent, 1957 stock, refinished. Very happy with the work they did. If you need anything pertaining to a pre-64 Model 70, these guys are the ones you need to talk to... https://pre64win.com/

Chambered in 30-06. I bought a 1954 standard, swapped out the barrel, stock and bottom metal.

Very nice rifle. What scope are you going to use on it?

Leupold VX-II 2x7. I want to stick with something that’s kind of vintage. It’s a gloss finished scope I’ve had for a long time. I think it will look good on this rifle.

Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
Ain’t easy havin pals.

What is the weight of the rifle with scope? Haven’t mounted the scope, and I haven’t weighed the rifle yet. I will though.

I have a 1963 vintage M70 .300 W. Mag, also a .30-06 a bit older.

At my age, I need them.

I have a circa 52' FW. Always wondered if the barrel contour change just ahead of the receiver was a shared style with early Colt and S&W revolvers made prior to sight ribs? Mine's a 308win. Built on the same length action with a steel mag filler. Great rifles, yours is a beauty!

What is the weight of the rifle with scope? Haven’t mounted the scope yet, but rifle weighs 6.5lbs naked. With the mounts and scope, it’s going to come in right at 7lbs 8oz. That’s weighing it on my Postal Scale.

That is sweet. I’ve got a featherweight 308 that is shot to hell and the stock is trashed. I may have to give these folks a buzz.

I’m fortunate that I live in the same state. I was in their shop yesterday and they must have had 150 different barrels. And they were just starting on a Featherweight stock that was going to be brought back to its former glory.

If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.
