I built my own house, did everything except finish the concrete ( did pad, forming, plumbing, grade beams and rebar), insulation ( Company did it cheaper than I could buy material) , sheetrock, and lay the brick.

Don’t ever want to do that again!!!!

Paul, your before pictures look like a lot of the homes I've seen in rural, southern Manitoba. Is it that people just got old and moved on and nobody bothers to fix them up until someone like yourself comes along?

More than likely Rooster, the people we bought from were retirement age, so wanted to be closer to their kids & grand kids.

They redid the the upstairs interior prior to the sale. It's nice enough, but I keep noticing "little things" that annoy me/us !

I guess he was just rushed to get things done.

We had planned to build a master suite for ourselves downstairs, but when the snow came off the roof, decided to "reroute" that money.

The standing seam steel roof has a lifetime warranty & the new siding a 35 year warranty.

As it will be our forever home, decided to pull the trigger & 1 & done it !

'bout written this year off, but it'll all be worth it.

Doing as much as possible ourselves, but hired a contractor for this project. I'm helping with labour, as work time allows.

I pulled the deck off with the tractor, after they detached from the roof, then dug the trench for the footings & sono tubes, + I'll be finishing the new deck interior.

Dentist was a heli pilot who flew some pretty bad missions in Vietnam war. Hunts birds only.
