Sometimes. A wrinkle to that is making sure stuff is available, and maybe buying ahead, before purchasing certain new guns. I was going to order a rifle online but it was out of stock. A few days later i noticed that not only was brass no longer available on the store shelves, hornady has discontinued it, and factory ammo is unavailable as well. Ok .. good thing I did not order that one. I would have screwed up if they'd let me, if there'd been guns in stock to order. For example, Federal Syntech is $18.95 per 50 available at Aim Surplus. The 9x18 is up by less than 10% in same time period. Sample is Norma ball at $13.95 per 50 at Aim Surplus. We have to remember that this 9x18 is brass cased with copper jacket not iron case with copper-washed iron-jacketed bullet usually found in Russian and Chinese ammo.
