I am doing research for my son. He has finally abused his first set of binoculars to the point that their useful life is over.

Wanting to get a pair a rangefinding binoculars in the 10x range. What would be a good solid pair to look at? Does not need ballistics capable, but if they have it fine.

No, he cannot have my Leica's and that level of glass is well out his range financially at this time.

Budget would be under$1000 preferably.

Ask the boys at Cameraland. They KNOW glass and give great service and prices.

The best option in that price range is the Sig Sauer 10x42 BDX 3000

I scored a pair of demo Leica Geovids from Doug @ Cameraland a little over a year ago. Just a hair over a grand. Good RF binos.

I don't see any reports on this unit, or Sig Optics in general, but I have been very please with my Kilo2200BDX rangefinder. How are the optics with this unit? Any general impressions or comparisons that can be offered?

This is what I was going to suggest. I thought Doug had just posted up some demo leicas in the last couple of days with a couple units in the $1200 range. Might be a little bit of a stretch, but for the extra $200 I would think it would be well worth it.

A lot of us like the Vortex Fury 5000 HDs, but those will be around $1200. For under $1000 Doug is the best option. Good option no matter what your price range, but for what you are looking for he is probably your only option.

It's nice but a little pricier than I would like
