Yup, and I put up a chain link fence to keep the mosquitoes off my property.

SheRoy wears one.

But only because she's afraid of a rogue dick finding its way into her mouth.

Again.

I just drove in from deep East Texas. There is hardly anyone wearing masks in the stores in all the little towns.

Because the threads get replies?

Mask requirements are a distraction. Time spent attacking one another over them, is time spent missing a once-in-a-lifetime chance to delegitimize neoliberal globalism.

Masks are pretty much useless, at least what you see around town are. Serious masks that were designed to thwart virus might work. I have not worn one at all, and refuse to do so.

Masks are great...

to let you know who the sheep are.

I have a “medical condition “ wink so I don’t have to wear one even where “required”.

I'm thinking “They don’t do squat” isn’t completely accurate. The question is: Is it effective enough to surrender our freedom and jeopardize our economy?

If 15% (made up number) of the population is high risk, is it wise to risk the nation’s economy, an entire generation’s education, mental health due to stress and solitude and numerous other things when that 15% can take their own precautions?

But I digress....

Does it work? We should find out this fall. If they work, all colds and flus should be significantly reduced as a matter of record.

Relative was up from SoCal the other day. Drove into town to get gas before heading out here, texted me to tell me where they were. Said

"no one wears masks around here?"

My reply

"Masks?? We don' need no stinking masks" grin

On occasion I have to wear one, usually a bandana I keep handy for such things. Dr offices and such, and to be somewhat respectful (one of them is shoving a needle in my eye every 4-6 weeks!) I wear something to make them feel comfortable.

It's the newer kinder me coming out.

Masks are not about health concerns....
It's about control, a social experiment, like the no gender bathroom thing.

Man was not meant to breath in his own exhaust...from either end !!!

Only place i have had to wear one has been in the hospital and doctor's office.

Other than that they can catch me if they want to.

I have been tested and found lacking the plague but the fine folks at the lab would not do the blood test to see if i had already had it and got over it.

They even tried to get me to sign papers so they could give me another test,i told the no because i had a sinus infection not the plague.

That is all.

Wear a mask or don't it's a free country, just STFU and do as you choose. Ignore any and all who might tell you what to do ! Countless threads and constant dialog on the topic has gotten tiresome.

Subject: IT'S JUST.....

It’s just a mask. It’s just six feet. It’s just two weeks. It’s just
non-essential businesses. It’s just non-essential workers. It’s just a
bar. It’s just a restaurant. It’s just to keep from overwhelming the
hospitals. It’s just until the cases go down. It’s just to flatten the
curve.

It’s just a few inmates. It’s just to keep others from being
scared. It’s just for a few more weeks. It’s just church. You could
still pray. It’s just prayer. It’s just until we get a vaccine. It’s
just a bracelet. It’s just an app. It’s just for tracing. It’s just to
let people know you’re safe to be around. It’s just to let others know
who you’ve been in contact with.

It’s just a few more months. It’s just some more inmates.
It’s just a video. It’s just a post. It’s just
an email account. It’s just for protecting other from hate speech.
It’s just for protecting others from hurt feelings. It’s just a large
gathering but for protests. It’s just a few violent protests.

It’s just a little micro chip. It’s just a blood test. It’s just a test.
It’s just a scan. It’s just for medical information. It’s just to
store a vaccination certificate. It’s just like a credit card. It’s
just a few places that don’t take cash. It’s just so you can travel.

It’s just so you can get your driver’s license. It’s just so you can
vote. It’s just mail-in voting. It’s just a few more years. It’s just
a statue. It’s just a monument. It’s just a building. It’s just a
song. It’s just a lyric. It’s just an anthem. It’s just a few words.

It’s just a piece of paper. It’s just a book. It’s just a movie. It’s
just a TV show. It’s just a cartoon character.

It’s just a piece of cloth. It’s just a flag. It’s just a dog at a protest.
It’s just a religion. It’s just a holiday. It's just your guns.
It's just the police. It's just the military It's just your freedoms....gone
forever.

And "It's just" the way they planned it.

The OP said.
Do you all think it helps prevent the spread of the Commie 19 virus?

My doctor says it’s a waste of time.

Well, I am friends with several doctors and know a few others too. One says she will wear the masks and believes Dr Fauci. (just in passing, she's also hard left in her politics)

One other thinks it's not a bad thing to do, but way over rated.

All the rest (totaling 6) say it's a total waist of time, and one who I personally believe is the most outspoken and least afraid of public opinions says masks are an "I'm a fool flag" <<<(His exact words.)

One I have talked to only 2 times on the phone from Nevada is an actual virologist. She said the scale of the pours of the mask can be understood my seeing the hanger doors on a commercial airport, where the big jet liners go in to be worked on. I will quote her here as perfectly as I can remember, word for word "If you were the Covid19 virus the hanger door is the size of the pours of the best mask we wear in surgery. We have known for 100 years masks can't catch viruses, but only bacteria ,and then only when it's suspended in water or liquid droplets"

When I asked her is they did an good at all she said some may be caught in droplets but about 90% get through when the mask is dry and not starting to condense with moisture from your breath, which means it works at it's top efficiency for stopping about 10% of the virus for about 3 minutes. After that it's nearly 100% useless. As the mask gets more wet the moist breath simply forces it way around the barrier and if it's breathed through it forces micro fine droplets of condensed water (containing the very virus you tried to stop) out into the air and new moisture pushing on the moisture that was already there.

The analogy of placing a 4 foot chain link fence around your home to stop mosquitoes is actually inaccurate because to be the correct scale the spacing of the links would have to be 14 inch squares. No mosquito is stopped by the fence and the truth is that 99.999% will be going around it anyway.

I’d love to hear about the effectiveness of a “serious” mask.
