Back when my kids were young, Mrs. Lastround and I said when the kids grow up and leave home, we would get us a Corvette. Well, we both got old and never got that Corvette. I’m too old and stiff to get into one now anyway. Oh well!

There's a lot to like about it, despite the fact that it's a GM. But no manual option? I get it that the new autos are fantabulous and alla that, but it's the friggin' principle of the thing.

Hey now be careful.
Some of us corvette drivers are not old and fat.
Well, maybe a little old.
Mine is a 2016 stock Z06, 650 HP, seven speed manual.
It will out perform the 2020, by a wide margin.

When I bought the new body designed corvette in 1986. I Thought I was gonna be the baddest on the road, until I pulled up next to a guy in a 1970’s vintage 4 speed Corvette, I believe.

He dropped the ass on his Vette twice, and left me where I was. I remember just watching the rear of his Corvette drop and lift every time he shifted gears.

I sold mine less than a year later.

LOL

Manual, as it used to be known, is dead in performance cars.

Dual clutch paddle shifted marvels have taken over.

It's too bad they didn't give it a manual. Paddles are faster but three pedals are more fun.

The reason was that America doesn't like clutch pedals:

Quote
... the real thing that convinced the Chevy team not to offer a manual was—sadly—low sales of the stick-shift C7 Corvette.

I still miss my first one straight out of college in 1985. My daily driver for years.

Had a C8 on order for a few months. Cancelled it and bought a new ZL1 instead. Good move on my part as the Z is faster and less expensive. Right now if you get on the list to buy one with a major Corvette dealer you are looking at least a years wait. Don’t expect to pay less than MSRP for at least a couple of years.

Yeah but all those guys are getting fired 😱

Maybe I can get a black guy full size mannequin for the passenger side and get a free pass on speeding through some kind of reparations by proxy deal.

I followed a Accelerate Yellow 2020 Corvette up the the highway last week, I must say I would take a standard "slow" 194 mile version any day of the week. smile

Nah, I played musical garages for weeks. Kept them playing where’s Waldo.

Finally, I traded myself into a new Toyota Supra turbo with targa top, in metallic red. Wrecked it. That was pretty much the end of my cop fun cars for a while.
