Leupold scopes are inconsistent when dialed. SWFA or Nightforce (shv or compact) are much better confidence builders and will fit on a mountain rifle very nicely. I just carried a NF compact on a NULA for 11 days in Alaska. Most of the time it’s strapped to your pack and a couple ounces is nothing. Many other areas to cut weight.

They will until they won't, how much it matters all depends on where you are a what your doing at the time. I don't think one could reliably say that they would track reliably indefinitely. X2

I have two 3-15x44's that have tracked and RTZ just fine. I have a third coming tomorrow, I ain't scared...... Here is the best endorsement for a scope . aalf probably shoots more then most here could even dream about.
Its all right to be white!! Stupidity left unattended will run rampant Don't argue with stupid people, They will drag you down to their level and then win by experience

Nothing much to add that except that my VX5 works like a champ and is my favorite scope.

VX5 is the best scope for the money on the market.

VX5 is the best scope for the money on the market. In a lot of ways, I agree. It’s frustrating to me that the reticles are different in many models between VX-6HD and VX-5HD even though they are called the same thing (many are much wider on the 5HD variant). Excellent glass and seems well built.

Well, I only have some experience with the HD5. Sighted it in with 3 shots for MRD using my Strelok+ app. Immediately dialed for 400yds per whhat the app said...bingo hit. Then dialed 619 per the app...bingo hit. Like detractors say...must be a POS...YMMV.

Tough choice.

That's a pretty strong endorsement of the VX5 John. I own one, a 2-10x42 CDS-ZL2. Had a dial made for the .270 WSM with 140 grain Accubonds at a realistic velocity and atmospherics for where and when I typically hunt. I'm glad to know it will likely get the job done. I haven't shot a lot with it yet but it sighted in with 2 shots and the glass is fantastic.

A new Leupold VX5HD 3x15x56 scope will not fit in a Rem 700 LA Nightforce direct mount. IMO the Nightforce direct mount is the best available mount ring set up available for a 700 Remington. Kind of pissed me off because Leupold doesn't call the VX5HD a compact scope.

My 3-15 is going on four seasons of backpack hunting abuse and still tracking just fine. Dead on at 300, 400, and 500 last weekend which is all I ask of it.
Only 900 rounds on it though, so from what the internet says it should fail any minute... lol.
