Is the 280 a factory chambered gun? Yes, it sure is. There were around 2,800 made in this caliber.

Have a .280 in 725. Great rifle and probably the handsomest production rifle Remington ever manufactured, the Enfield safety notwithstanding. Certainly the best checkering I've ever seen on a Remington factory stock. With a Leupold Vari-XIII 2.5x8x scope it's my favorite big game rifle. The only beef I have with mine (other than paying too much for it because I REALLY wanted one) is that a prior owner had a small (dime sized diameter) compass inletted into the comb. Fine job, but it does kind of impact the value to a collector. However, that will be my kids' problem, as I plan on keeping it until I go toes north.

These are great rifles! I took this pair to the range one time, put them in the safe and never used them again. In all honesty, it won't break my heart to hang onto the 280 a few more years if it doesn't sell.
