The bear in the hotel was just plain funny.
I was expecting that video to go with the headline above it.

Looks like one more example that the blackies have more tendency for human consumption than grizzlies.
It's a shame the hikers didn't come across the middle aged man inviting the hikers to sit down and share some bear steaks over the Campfire.

Interesting that ass director can pop up with a 99% number on bears immediately leaving the area after a human interaction... so how come so many are shot on the remains?

He is a liar with an anti-human agenda...

One of the toughest guys I ever knew told me "A good run's better than a bad stand."

He wasn't talking about bears though smile

Amazing!
That's the first time I have ever seen a James Bond snake weapon work against bears. Cool video.
Will start carrying a can of hair spray and a bick when in bear country.

What a bunch of total HS!!!!

I hope the Troopers go have a talk with those idiots! The bad info there is legendary at every level! Once, way late one of them said something about getting out of there. The single intelligent statement in the whole video. Chuke is a total moron and would have been better off saying nothing.

A pair of Idaho bowhunters survived a griz attack Friday. They credit bear spray for their success in running it off.

ISLAND PARK β€” An Idaho hunter survived an attack by what he described to officials as a grizzly bear, according to a news release from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.

The man, who has not been publicly identified, was archery hunting with another hunter south of Mount Two Top near Island Park in Eastern Idaho on Friday morning. The hunters stumbled upon the bear in thick brush, and it charged at one hunter, knocking him to the ground. The man was able to deploy bear spray, a mace-like deterrent, before the attack. His hunting companion then deployed his own bear spray, and the animal fled.

Fish and Game said the victim was taken by ambulance to a Rexburg hospital after both hunters hiked out of the backcountry. Officials credited the bear spray for saving the hunters’ lives.

In a similar event the previous week, a grizzly bear attacked two archery hunters near Sandpoint when they crossed paths with her and her cubs. Those hunters also used bear spray and escaped the attack with minimal injuries.

This is the third reported grizzly attack in Idaho this year. In May, a Montana man hiking in the Henrys Lake area β€” near Mount Two Top β€” was attacked and bitten by a female grizzly bear. He survived the attack.

I like bears, all bears large and small. I like working in bear country.

When on the trail and I come across a bear. I give them the right of way...
If they'll let me.

According to a biologist I know, "bears are perfectly safe as long as you keep them at least a quarter inch away from your skin"

Who can argue with that? smile

I do quesion the intelligence of people carrying pointy sticks as a weapon in bear country. I do not consider "bear spray" as anything more than a feel-good hope...... The human voice and an aggressive human attitude (as well as a few brains) is probably more effective.

Stumbling into a bear in tight cover can lead to a bad situation quickly. Probably too quickly for anything to be deployed. But such encounters are usually as much of a surprise to the bears. I have been in a large number of situations where a condiment spritz could convince some folks it actually worked. But I am not a believer because nothing happened without the spray... and because of the times when it was used and failed.

Someone should do a study on skunk spray.
You've seen those videos of beat verses woverine...
Bear verses badger. ..
If there's enough data on bear verses skunk, and the skunks consistently chased them off.....
Wouldn't it make more sense to design a skunk spray?

I suspect a bear would just smile and roll in it... maybe try to get the skunk to spray under his arms.

That's one thing I don't think was mentioned.
A diversion.

If someone gets THAT scared, as long as its not in their pants when momma bear comes charging.
That would be a bad way to go.

Damn bears here in Northern California are strange.

I have had them follow me, about a 1/4 mile behind me.

Yosemite bears are interesting. Bear put a hole in my coffee percolater coffee
Ate my dish soap and barfed right in front of my tent

He/she was pawing on the side of my tent that night/morning.

Yogi bear! Lol
