I have the four painted stocks shown below for sale. They're made by a Texas based company and are 84M prototypes. They have considerably more carbon fiber in them than the Costa Rica made stocks, and unlike the current Montana stocks don't consist of a thin shell over a two-part polyurethane expanding foam core. The forend is filled with a low density solild material so the barrel channel can be opened up significantly to accommodate a heavier profile (see t-nut counterbore holes). In addition, the forend has two sling swivel studs that are mounted using t-nuts so significantly stronger than the Costa Rica model. The rear stud is mounted into a block of aluminum that is locked into the inner butt geometry which is also much stronger than the Costa Rica made stock. Another salient feature is the spring stop at the front of the magazine well that prevents the lower spring leg from kicking forward which typically causes the rear of the follower to drop and the bolt to ride over the top round in the magazine. The stocks are close in weight to the Montana stock and I can provide actual weights if desired. * More barrel channel clearance than current Montana stocks * Solid forened to accommodate heavier barrel profiles * Two sling swivel studs in forened screwed into t-nuts * Spring stop in magazine well * Very tight recoil lug pocket for a no-bed option * Rear sling swivel stud screwed into solid aluminum block * Sherwin Williams painted exterior * Similar weight to current Montana stock Price as shown: $275 + $25 shipping Price with inletting 95% complete: $300 + $25 shipping These stocks are intentionally made to minimal dimenisons so a barreled action will be very tight. They will almost certainly require the paint to be removed from all mating surfaces, and possibly some material from the recoil lug pocket and the receiver mating surfaces. You most likely won't need to do any bedding with these stocks but you always have the option. Thanks for looking and first come, first served.

To avoid any confusion, the forends are filled with a low density solid material i.e. can be opened up without issue. As far as I know, the buttstock is not filled with the same low density solid material. It's my understanding that a low density foam is injected into the buttstock region before the recoil pad is glued in place.
Here are actual weights for each of the availalbe stocks.
Seal Skin: 24.4 oz
Well Bred Brown: 25.4 oz Smokehouse: 28.8 oz
Iron Ore: 30.0 oz

Damn. Seconds on the sealskin (although it won’t be needed.) Do you have any coming up for the 84L?

Here's an updated photo showing which stocks are still available. I also have a Montana 84M stock with a grey finish but for some reason had a thin "rubbery" coating applied over the grey at some point. The coating is "sticky" but I think it could easily be removed using mineral spirits, acetone or similar.
