Please tell me these are good tires.

Stopped by the local tire shop last week and asked my buddy(owner) to order me another set of Cooper ST Maxx for the old war pony.

He called the next day and said no luck finding Coopers nearby in that size but he got a set of Kelly TSR's on the way.

I sorta questioned the idea but he says these are damn good tires...

Never heard of them myself and it appears they aren't real common on the internet tire shops/reviews.

Huh, haven't heard the Kelly name in near on 30 years. Didn't realize they were still in business. Use to buy them for my first F150 4x4 truck back in the mid 80's. Always thought they were an economical brand back then. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Kelly Springfield is owned and made by Goodyear.

We've had better luck with the Kelly branded stuff over a lot of what's in the Goodyear line.

Evidentially Goodyear bought them out.

I found a couple places online and they were priced within about $20 of the Coopers or Toyo R/T's.

Around $240 apiece for a 285/75R16 Kelly.

Limited reviews appear to be positive.

Pickup tires?

They're probably alright.

Last you pretty decent on a ranch truck.

You ain't gonna get 50,000 miles out of any tire ranchin'... wink

Let us know how they do.

Ended up putting the BF Goodrich T/A's all around my dually the other day.

I like the low noise on the highway, and the thicker sidewalls.

Dad ran Kelly for years on everything - swore by them - but those were ancient days. A few years ago I got an extra set of wheels and put 245/16 Kelly fairly aggressive snow tires on for 4 months of worst winter driving - took them off for the other 8 months - they were excellent in snow/ice and good in mud. Used them for several winters, including some long runs to MN. No longer live at rough winter level, so just dismounted them and gave two good ones to a buddy who uses a lot of used tires on trailers. I would do it again.

I liked the T/A so much that I ran them on my Scout II, Ford Bronco, and Yukon(16 years), until I bought my 2015 Tahoe which came with a brand that lasted 40,000 miles for the original set, so I replaced those with another identical set. Guess I best check the pressures before running down to Junction next Saturday to pick up some taxidermy.
A one day 10 hour round trip cruise. smile

I think they were about $200 a pop. Maybe $205.

265/70 R17's Load Range E.

They all balanced out great. Not much weight needed.

I went around feeling the sidewalls. Those were the thickest I could find... smile

Good deal.

I don't put on a lot of miles on any one pickup so if they last 30k miles that's fine.

Really curious how they hold up on gravel.

I put a set of these one my Duramax 3500 work truck and was pretty disappointed. They didn’t last 25,000 miles. Wore fast and got progressively louder as time went on.

We run Kellys on all of our trucks 3/4 ton Suburban and love them, they ride way better than then the Goodrich, and I'm not stuck in deep snow all winter !

They were getting thin.
